Edit; on another thread it stated they aren't in production yet.

Wanted a snug top went to the dealer they said what snugtop. Apparently there are 0 in canada and they won't bring any of them in they even took them off the ford canada website. If I knew that I wouldn't of bought the truck. Called company's and they're all nope got nothing

the Maverick cap isn't mentioned anywhere on the Snugtop website. Is it only available via Ford dealers? I couldn't find it anywhere on the Ford accessories website either

couldn't find the Snugtop in the Ford Accessories website. However, I did find it in the Ford website under the Build function as an add on when you spec a Maverick. Weird, because every other time i've been on Ford's website playing around with Maverick Builds it wasn't there.

I simply got my dealer to order mine after I had ordered the truck through them, so my guess is the best way to get one is hit up your local dealer parts department. They were DEFINITELY on the Ford accessories site at one point, and I’ve heard they are completely unavailable in Canada for some reason.

As for the quality, it seems as good or better than any premium Leonard/Leer that I’ve had. I’ve had around 6 different caps in the last 25 years on different trucks and I’d say this is as good as those. Which makes sense, because now they’re *all* Leer since Leer owns both Leonard and SnugTop. In fact, this shell has a Leer manufacturing tag on it. My guess is that the way the agreement with Ford works, though, is that *this* top will only be sold through Ford for at least some amount of time.

If you’re used to camper shells on trucks, the only downside I know on these is the view out the rear view mirror. It’s bad. You get used to it and having a backup camera mitigates it somewhat, but it was unexpected. And I don’t think there’s anything they can do about it much. It is possible to have designed the latches and lower part a LITTLE better to get you maybe near an inch of view height lower than what you have, which would be nice.

And in other threads people have said they are waiting for a shell that doesn’t have the rise of the SnugTop and is more flat in line with the roofline, but to that I say DO NOT GET THAT. There is no world where you’ll be happy with how little you can see out your rear view mirror. Basically plan to just remove your rear view mirror and install a PERMANENTLY ON backup camera if you do that. And even then, well, your storage height is going to be TERRIBLE. It’s already VERY low. I don’t think people can grasp how small a Maverick bed is until you see one, and you REALLY can’t grasp this shell situation until you see one. I simply can’t imagine the usefulness of a shell that’s 2” shorter than this one.

But then again I think tonneau covers are the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen on a truck, so YMMV.

I saw one being installedsnd i have one on order. It looks nice expensive as heck though. The install is kind of a pain in an xl as they had to wire it into the rear lights. The rear door fit nice and snug. It has a removable rear window and the side windows open outwards and have screens on them that are removable. Has lights and a carpeted roof. The room inside is a little higher then the cab roof it's kind of bubbled up in the middle. Looks nice in person. The rear window removes with latches so if you have a sliding glass window you can open it to the back

I have not seen one in person yet, but does anyone know if the cap is sealed well enough to the cab to leave the topper front window opened/removed?

Thanks, HRG

The cap doesn’t seal to the cab at all. It seals around the bed, just as if it were on a truck that has a separate bed. It’s just very CLOSE to the cab, so in pics it isn’t clear that it’s not sealed there. But it is, and it has it’s own glass, and it’s glass can fold down internally so you can clean between the glasses just like other premium tops on non-unibody trucks.

Basically, this does NOT work like the caps on the first gen Ridgeline, it works just like caps on all normal pickup trucks.
