Definitely possible it’s something else, but I’m telling you I’ve seen this kind of bad connection cause ALL kinds of weird issues, and it’s a very common problem. They had a VERY bad process for soldering these, and any fairly good but still intermittent connection could be causing your truck...

Where are you seeing this? I’ve read the entire actual TSB and there is no “before X date” or anything listed that I can see. The word “may” appears four times in the document and none of those is a date.

Yes, it should be two different TSBs. But instead it’s two things in one TSB that’s poorly worded. In a nutshell, they’re only supposed to order the EGR valve and do that if you have a code, and they’re supposed to only do the brake thing if the customer reports it as a problem. *sigh*

But did it *grab* like before the TSB? I’ve heard the clunk a couple times since the TSB but a) not NEARLY as often and b) it just doesn’t grab anything like it did before the TSB.

It’s a bit of a haul, but call Ericka at Asheboro Ford. They did mine with no trouble at all. Sucks that businesses are so busy that they don’t care if they piss off customers. *sigh*

I can’t say I’ve ever had the second one, but the first is the TSB behavior, yeah. Get it done and see if you still have 2 and go from there would be my advice.

There’s also a good chance that it’s just that *some* of those parts aren’t being manufactured to spec. That is to say it’s not a “wearing out” issue, but a “bad part to begin with” issue. So maybe it’s not an updated part that’s needed, it’s just that they need better quality control in making...
