2022 Ford Maverick XL, pending XLT hybrid
So, after waiting, and searching, and waiting and searching, I finally got a 3rd party trailer hitch! I got my 2022 Ford Maverick XL March 28th, after it had been ordered January 28th, and another customer backed out of the ordered… this order did not include a trailer hitch unfortunately. I ordered a Hybrid fully loaded XLT back in July and it still has not been built, or even scheduled.

Anyways, I have been searching and searching just like many of you for a different hitch because Ford has been out of stock, and backlogged with no foreseeable stock date. I was in contact with Draw-Tite a few months ago when their website showed part number 76557 will fit the ford maverick. At the time, it was the ONLY website I could find it on. After some emails later, they informed me it wouldn’t be stocked for months. I’ve literally been searching once a day for it to be stocked. I found yesterday, UHAUL officially had the Draw-Tite part on their website, but it wouldn’t be stocked until May 20th. After a few more clicks, I found realtruck had it in stock, with free shipping. It will be here next week. I am stoked.

Also, if you go to either the UHAUL, or realtruck website and filter by the truck… you will find the part. Again it’s Draw-Tite part 76557.

I am not sure. I might keep both, I might trade this one in. I’ve had a lot of debate for the past couple weeks over this. They’re so hard to get a hold of, I just can’t decide.

Interesting in that it doesn't use the hitch cutout area that the normal Ford hitch does. It hangs below it.

I did see that. It intrigued me when I went through the installation instructions. Either way, I will be pleased with it. I have a Cummins to pull my big boat, I just needed this for my jet ski.

How are you handling the wiring?

I wonder why they elected to use 7/8" worth of spacers on the drivers-side, rather than just bring the sideplate/flange to the correct level?

I imagine that it was a manufacturing limitation and that this is easier to sell to your less mechanically inclined users because you don’t have to take off the entire crash bar.

I agree. At 1 point I thought I was getting a Colorado WT as my company vehicle, the aftermarket hitch option replaced the rear crash bar, involved removing the bumper cover and wiring, etc. This is a much easier install, albiet at the expense of a lower insert level.

Dealership said it was an 8 month wait to have one with a hitch. So the buyer that backed out, opted for them to change it to not having a hitch. I have an XLT on the way with a hitch… eventually. Ordered July, 2021. This one was order January 18, 2022 and I’ve been driving it for a month.

I bought a step bumper hitch and “U” bolts to attach to the crash bar. Cost to date is $50. Lights will be extra at some point. I have a small utility trailer that does not require lights.

Did you ever upload pics of it? I saw someone was going to do that but they never followed up so I didn’t know if it fit. All I saw was that online they said they didn’t fit.
