Will be new to towing anyone have experience with power assist towing and power assist hitch? Wonder if it’s helpful to a newby tower? Probably will be towing a teardrop tv.

They say both are very helpful. I honestly couldn't tell you, I've never had the opportunity to use either.

By the term Power Assist Hitch I am assuming you mean a powered jack for the tongue. I would heartily recommend that, for sure. It's a bunch easier to hitch and unhitch, as well as level it up, when you can move the tongue up and down with a switch rather than crank, crank, crank. One possible issue is if the trailer is close to your maximum weight you'll be adding more weight by installing the jack. As for Power Assist Towing, I'm not sure what you are referring to. Can you elaborate?

Nope- Maverick has an optional power assist feature that makes attaching the hitch and then also backing up the rig a breeze without touching the steering wheel.

Oh yeah, I know what you mean. I've never tried one of those but have always had good results from using a back up camera. I wouldn't fault someone for using one but have hitched and unhitched trailers and 5th wheels enough that I can say that except for extreme conditions usually that is one of those "practice makes perfect" tasks.

For a small teardrop. You won't need ANY fancy features.

You will be able to bring the trailer to the truck BY HAND those last few inches.... assuming you have hands, and are physically able to move about 50 pounds.

But like others said, just having the rear camera, that is standard equipment on all trucks makes hitching up pretty easy. Do it three times, and you'll have confidence without fancy gadgets.

For the rest of us with pre-'25 Mavs and no special trailer assist features, simply move the trailgate cables so the tailgate is in the slanted position. The backup camera aims perfectly at your hitch and you can watch your progress on the screen.

It's called Pro Trailer Backup Assist, not Power Assist Towing and Hitch...
