You realize supply chain issues have forced many to purchase off the lot

and in the used market you will suffer on resale

and situations change.

and if you need a Uhaul once in your life there’s a harness.

But yea. I guess you knew that.

And yes there’s will be a splice kit aftermarket someday. But a splice kit. Really?

Ok. Beating a dead horse here but this shows Fords priorities on the Mav, which is fine, they’ve done their marketing research and obviously prioritized. You can hook up party lights in the bed but not a simple trailer harness.

The (bed) connector can be unplugged from this plate, and hooked up to a supplied pigtail connector instead.

Fitting an extra cable run to the back of the bed at production time is no huge expense for Ford, but makes life much easier for owners wanting to fit their own gear. It's a strong point of difference, and could sway potential new customers on the fence about choosing the Maverick over another vehicle.”

If I needed a sledgehammer for a specific project, like busting up my sidewalk, I would purchase the one that would be the most efficient and effective. I wouldn't buy the little guy to do the big guy projects nor the big guy to do little guy projects.

I think the Maverick has been pretty well thought out to fit the niche it was designed to fulfill. You just can't make the Maverick something it isn't!

When in our lifetime have we seen a truck (or any vehicle) sellout with next to no advertising, commercials or promotions. The Maverick basically sold itself. I'm glad I stumbled on it.

Let me be the first to say i really wish they made a 16 lb or even a 12 lb sledge.

We'll you're in luck Woody27, you can find that 16# sledge hammer at the Home Depot and Harbor Freight has your 12# sledge!

I shop at lowes. Why can't they just uprate their 10 lb sledge to 12 lbs. So frustrating.

Would be good if the new standards system for tow ratings required manufacturers to post the criteria used for individual models to arrive at the ratings. Still a very imprecise science.

you can weigh a sledgehammer so bad analogy.

Damn it you beat me to this response!

I mean, surely they could just make one sledge hammer to do every job right? Then everyone could just buy the same sledge hammer, and the world would be a happier place!

Not sure if someone answered this. As far as an F-150 why can it pull nearly double what it weighs but the Maverick can't? Just a question.

sounds like a great product idea! Somebody should invent a sledgehammer "kit" that comes in a suitcase with a "standard" size handle and multiple interchangeable head weights so you can customize it based on the job at hand. Kinda like gym weights. I better go Copyright this now before someone beats me to it :p

Engine and chassis would be the main reasons likely

The Ecoboost with 55hp more, AWD and FX4 package with larger radiator and fan should get a minimum of another 1k over a base FWD hybrid Mav. Marketing likely concluded upselling the 4k was easier to buyers comparing 2k-4k

Wondered about this. Many small crossovers beat it. Even a 2dr Wrangler believe is 2.5K. RAV4 etc.

4K is decent. But base should have been near 3 at least.
It's funny, for me I couldn't care less about the towing capabilties, what bothers me is the length of the bed. I find a 4.5 foot bed doesn't really have much room, especially if you made the mistake I did which was to get the tonnoe cover
