Ford build quality mate! I had a 2021 F-150 with 2k miles on and opened the passenger door and the handle was sitting in my hand when I looked down. Infotainment issues up the wazoo, and mystery rattles. 2020 mustang with sagging doors that would fully shut, panel gabs I could fit my fingers in, and the window motor broke as well. Luckily these were rentals from my job but still, come on Ford. The Nissans were way better overall which is pretty sad.

I will definitely call or go up there tomorrow and ask about it. Do you think a new engine would lesser the value of the vehicle? Or cause it to not live as long? Or am I overthinking?

I've swapped out transmissions myself before with bad luck later on, so not sure.

Edit: Also worth noting, the dealership has been absolutely awesome to me so far. First time working with them, and they've been incredible. I don't think this is at all their fault
Things happen and I would not be thinking Lemon already. I have had new transmissions and things needed in new cars before and they were just fine after. I would not worry and let the dealership do their job.

I have owned Ford vehicles my entire life and I have never had any issues with any of them. You cannot compare a rental car to one that you own. I have had Nissen rentals that have just been crapy cars as well. Rentals are not treated well in general. I have also owned Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, Honda, Toyota. I keep going back to Ford.

how old are your cars when you get rid of them? Most of my cars leave me with 200k+ miles and nearing the junk yard.

WOW, New engine? Extended Warranty? You folks who recommended that are funny cause it will never happen since it does not qualify for ANY state Lemon Law AND since it's still under manufacturer warranty provided it is not external damage, Ford will pay for it as long as it is covered under warranty (Ford has the option for repair decision based on warranty law).

So, there is oil and coolant leaks. The dealer did the RIGHT thing by providing the rental/loaner car. The dealer will do the diagnosis and IF it is serious, then Ford will be informed, then the determination will be made on the extend of engine repair OR replacement.

Your in good hands @Gorilla2001 ...... and no, I don't own FMC stock :)

They are company cars, not regular rentals. 2k miles on them and doors sagging and panel gaps being mismatch and massive, come on man. My mother always has transmission problems with hers, and my sisters engine seized on her Lincoln with 106k on it. They are way toward the bottom on motor trend and consumer reports reliability lists as well. You may just be very lucky.

Ive had some issues before and received both an extra warranty and a new transmission from Nissan. I also had a loaner car for the day it took them.

As for OPs car I did overreact to the possible damages on his truck. The amount of leakage seemed to align with most conclusions. It ended Up being missing plug? Why the freak was a plug missing?

Yeah, the assembly quality at XL/XLT/Lariat levels seem varied (some by quite a lot, like in this case). I have read the threads on the Cat glowing red, so far my Lariat Hybrid: no issues (of course I've only had it for 2 weeks.

I think the catalytic convertor issue is a software problem vs a quality oversight in assembly. Which would indicate any and all hybrid Mavericks could be affected by it.

The engines are made at a different factory for the Hybrid. Similar to most products that are then attached to the truck at the Hermosillo factory. The fact that things get touched so many times can be good and bad. So far it seems that the majority of Mavericks are perfect. For how slow the factories are (lack of parts) they should have plenty of time for quality checks.

Oh cast iron absolutely warps, I had a 3.8 Buick that could attest to that lol. Modern Fords do a pretty good job of regulating overheat conditions though. When they go into overtemp protection they cut alternating cylinders to pump air through, and will shut down completely past a certain CHT. Now, iron block and aluminum heads is the real fun setup.

Tell me about it! My personal experience can be summed up in two words - Chevy Vega. 🤮. Actually, the Vega had an aluminum block with steel pistons. Bad. Bad. Very bad.

You guys are funny.

My Maverick has an oil leak.

You should DEMAND a new engine!
It's probably a lemon.
Mexicans can't build cars.

I just saw this thread, and the time from 0 (do nothing) - 100 (new engine!) was breathtaking. :)

On the Mexican build issue, there is definitive evidence that vehicles assembled in Mexico have greater problems than elsewhere. My wife drives a Tiguan, manufactured in Wolfsburg, Germany. The same model year ('16) saw production in the U.S. (Alabama?) and Mexico at the time. The repair histories showed that the Wolfsburg vehicles had the fewest issues, followed by the American ones, then Mexico in last place.

That said, her Tiguan had a loose door on it right after we started driving it, and when we took it to the dealer, the guy grabbed a giant wrench and just cranked the bolts. I had the impression he had been doing that quite a bit. :)
