Yes, neutralize iron and metals, clay bar, paint correction first. The CC result will only be as good as the prep. Good luck....

Just don't rub too hard or you may get to bare metal

Why would you tell the OP something completely stupid like that? Not sure if it was meant to be a joke or you simply have zero idea what you are talking about...

OP, a clay bar is used with a lubricant to pull any impurities off of the paint prior to the next step, whether polishing, waxing, ceramic coat, PPF, etc.... you will have no issues with curing at that point. Good luck

Rail shipping will sprinkle your new vehicle with iron. Decontamination is a must. Clay bar for prep of paint correction to make the paint look like glass. Paint correction even though it’s the hardest step, it’s sooo much easier on a brand new vehicle. Should only need to use a finishing compound like Rupes DA Fine. What kind of CC you plan to use? After plenty of research, I picked Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light with Gtechniq Exo as the topper on the wife’s Buick last spring. So far so good. Good luck!

I'd let it cure for at least a couple of weeks. I'm no expert but have been told after getting paint not to wax it for a month.

By the time you get your hands on your Maverick/new car, it has been out of the paint booth at least a month. Even then, the 30 day cure does not hold true as much today given that most paints are now water based and cure significantly faster than the non-water based formulations from back in the day.

I used this
Meguiar's Iron Removing Spray Clay.... It was recommended by a high end detailer I know and a friend in Palm beach florida ,(think $3k to completely detail ,clay, ceramic and make a Ferrari immaculate that is what he gets:) Spray on turns purple upon contact with iron . My truck sat in a rail yard for 2 weeks surprisingly very little iron on the truck just the wheels which was break dust. The detailer tells me unless you are a professional, clay bar fresh paint on a new vehicle is tricky and in most cases not needed .He also told me if the whole car turns purple when you spray it ,CALL me.. dont try it yourself on fresh paint ,I will do it for you, The paint on a 35k truck is much different than a 750k super car is what he said ,just my experience

Every time I've tried to clay bar a car, I've left the paint in worse condition than what I started with (swirlys). That's just me.

I would say you're safe with a good wax removing wash (there are special soaps that are paint safe but remove wax), and then ceramic coating.
