Thats exactly what my detailer friend said! what he recommended is totally idiot proof his words not mine his instructions make sure car is in the shade and cool, spray the whole car a section at a time roof ,glass, mouldings, paint etc .let sit for a few minutes rinse well ... done

Every time I've tried to clay bar a car, I've left the paint in worse condition than what I started with (swirlys). That's just me.

I would say you're safe with a good wax removing wash (there are special soaps that are paint safe but remove wax), and then ceramic coating.

Iron remover neutralizes and removes the iron and metals picked up during (rail) shipping

Clay bar with lube removes imbedded impurities from the paint surface and can introduce haze

Paint correction/polishing removes swirls and haze (and can also flatten, and remove orange peel depending on the product)

At that point the surface is ready for wax or ceramic coat.

I have OCD with my cars and I’m also short on time, like most people. Here’s what I recommend to keep the car looking great and not kill your wallet or weekends:

• Wash the truck
• Clay bar with a quick detail lube spray
• The truck should zero or almost zero swirls at this point
• If you have lots of swirls, polish with the brand you like or use a mild cleaner wax
• I then use turtle wax seal-n-shine
• Then use turtle wax ICE spray wax

this keeps things slick and repels dirt. The clean truck will last a while until you want to wash it again, and probably several months until you need to recoat it with sealer and wax

my idea is that if a product is easy to use and quick (spray wax’s and sealers), you’ll use them more often.

All the clay bar enthusiast ? clay is for embedded iron in the clear coat .My detailer said and I am quoting : "A mass produced car that is 30 days old painted with water base production paint is not as hard as he would like . If you spray the car with iron remover and don't see reaction (turning purple) it doesn't have iron imbedded at best there may be a small amount on the surface, car is too new .If you are not very precise you are removing a small amount of clear coat when you clay no matter how good you are at it. If the car is a year old he said by all means done by a professional. And he went on to say when you decontaminate with iron remover AND IF you see purple ,you bring the truck to me and let me do it . If you see no chemical reaction You are possibly doing more harm than good claying a freshly painted American production car .. Something like a Lambo or Ferrari or Bugatti they spend weeks meticulously painting multiple coats and baking and drying in between coats . It is totally different. You will get a chemical reaction with a good iron remover even if it is embedded in the clear coat ,IF you dont see that WHY clay is what he said. This guy has 3 lambo,s in his shop right now and a waiting list.... Take it for what it is worth.....

Sounds like he knows his shit. I’ll stick with my turtle wax car wash and spray wax for my $23k truck. It’s not a Lambo

By the time you get your hands on your Maverick/new car, it has been out of the paint booth at least a month. Even then, the 30 day cure does not hold true as much today given that most paints are now water based and cure significantly faster than the non-water based formulations from back in the day.

I concur my truck is being built this week and I'm in Hawaii by the time I get it'll be a couple of months can go straight to the clay bar
