So my whole experience of ordering this Maverick has been a huge pain in the rear. Initial order was placed late at the dealership (two weeks after I initially asked). Then, I never received any email confirming that my order had been placed and the dealership couldn't confirm for me whether it had been. A nice poster on this forum set me up with the following number (1-800-334-4375) to call Ford Customer Service, who confirmed the order had been placed. This was ~3 weeks after the initial order (Oct 28th, 2021).

Since then I have been calling the above number 1-2 times a month to check on vehicle progress, because the dealership is still completely in the dark. Just today I was FINALLY told that I've received a VIN. But that I should have received an email informing me of this (I didn't) so that I could trigger the build scheduling process with my dealership. I then call my dealership and inform them that I have received a VIN. They tell me that I dont have one yet, I reiterate that I have the VIN # in hand from FORD themselves and they then take down the info as if confused about what to do with it.

Do I now need to rely upon this dealership following up to schedule the build date? Is it normal to not receive any email communications regarding updates like VIN allocations?

I am quite irritated with the process, but none the less incredibly excited at the prospect of receiving my Maverick.

Anyone else have similar experience?

After what you've been through, I would after picking up your Maverick find another reputable Ford Dealer. Oh, and don't allow your dealer to place there name on your Maverick. And find out who there regional Ford Rep. Is.

Dealerships do not schedule build dates. That falls on the shoulders of Ford corporate.

Something you said caught my eye. I am not meaning to distract from your question But could you (or somebody else on the forum) expand on the quoted section above? I hadn't heard that there was something we could do to trigger build process.

There is nothing that "triggers" a build other than Ford corporate picking the truck for production after looking at availability and allocation of individual dealerships.

Well in my case the vin# Means either in production(mine is) or will be within a couple days

When you say "dont allow your dealer to place their name on your Maverick" what do you mean?

Similarly, could you explain a bit more about the regional Ford rep and the utility of finding this person?

Apologies for so many questions, you seem to have valuable insights!

Okay, so Ford customer service got that wrong. I thought it sounded weird that the dealership would have to follow up to schedule the build after the order had already been placed...

Hopefully this means production soon.

Also, is there a website where you can enter your VIN to check progress? Thought I heard of this somewhere.

I think this was bad info from Ford customer service. I had never heard it before either on this forum or anywhere else until yesterdays phone call.

Goodness I pray that my Maverick goes into production in the coming days. That would be incredible.

When your Dealer placed the order for you originally, the entered it into their ordering system that generated an ORDER PREVIEW. Your dealer can and should provide you with a copy as this has your agreed upon pricing and options as well as your order number. This order number can be used in conjunction with your VIN on the Ford website to track the status/progress of your order. You may need to speak to the sales manager if necessary so that they will provide a copy (pdf) via email.

Good luck.

Here's how my Hybrid XL Velocity Blue went.
Ordered 07/23, got email from Ford that day saying ordered.
12/09 got email from Ford saying build week to be week of 02/07 with VIN also
01/29 got email from Ford saying build week changed to week of 02/21
02/26 got email from Ford saying built!
Salesman has contacted me each day that I've received the email from Ford also.
Salesman was able to provide me with a "full history" report that shows all this plus more, like when it went from built to "Body Company" for the SIBL. (FYI: built, to Body Company and back and to train for shipping all on the same day)
note: Dealer may not want to give the "Full History" report, may be confidential from Ford but see if you can get it.
NOW for the crazy part, I'll sell it for $28K if anyone interested. I want to buy an Escape Hybrid instead....yes...another very long wait for sure.
