Shipped but no VIN

Howdy! Is there a way to track a shipped order with just the order number? My sales guy has not sent it after me asking for it 3 times. (Background below)

My sales guy surprised me with a text last week saying that my Maverick had shipped! In Sept. ‘23 I had ordered a ‘24 Lariat Hybrid which he said I probably wouldn’t get until 2025 so I was surprised to get notified so early. I never got any emails from Ford about anything, so everything I have heard has come from the Salesman.

I have asked him for the VIN several times since then, but though he responds each time saying he will send it to me he has not. My work schedule is such that I can’t get down there to ask in person during the week. If I wait for next Saturday, I’ll be one week from the estimated arrival and I want to make sure I have everything lined up (including probably selling my current car).

If you didn't receive your emails, call and ask for sales manager. Explain that you've asked your salesman thrice and you're just trying to line up your ducks.

First thing I'd do is check with your dealer to be sure they submitted your order to Ford, along with your correct email. You should have gotten several emails from FMC by now:

1st one as soon as the order was sent in (that day or shortly thereafter). That email indicates that FMC has received your order, and lets you know they will send you an update on your order within 45 days.

2nd one you should have gotten within 45 days of the first one, indicating your scheduled build date, AND the VIN. The window sticker should be available around the time the production order has been sent to the factory.

Subsequent emails tell you about the productions status, shipping, and expected arrival at the dealer.

Maybe check your junk folder to be sure they haven't landed there.

Have you received any emails from FoMoCo?
I have thought it was weird that I never got any emails. I actually finished the order by emailing the salesman so I know he got it right there. Maybe he entered it wrong elsewhere… I’ll have to stop by next weekend.

As others said, give up on the lazy salesperson and call & talk to the sales manager. If you still get the runaround (unlikely), call Ford Marketing with your sales & order codes handy. They can look it up for you and give you the VIN, and/or tell you approximately where the truck is.
