Just curious if all the turmoil around the war, our economy and record high gas prices are causing anyone else to question their Maverick purchase? I recently received notification that my HPR Lariat Lux w/ FX4 was scheduled for build on April 25th. I think most of us agree the Mav is a bargain regardless of specks/trims/options, but I am really questioning such a large, unnecessary purchase during these trying times. Sure, it'll replace my gas guzzling V8, but my gas guzzling V8 is paid for!

Thoughts?

I am glad I am not paying over $5/gallon now for my 11-13 MPG Lincoln pickup any longer! Would love to have the Hybrid in AWD, but even the EcoBoost is a huge improvement.

It really makes me wish I had my hybrid...to sell for a Fortune this summer and use the profit to by a used gas gussler that finally drops to a realistic price.

Note, I don't drive many miles. If I did I would have a different opinion. Free and clear sucking gas is always cheaper than the alternative for my situation.

Loving my hybrid right now. Took out a loan to get it, and the interest rate is lower than inflation, so it's FREE!!! Not really, but you get what I'm saying? A wise man once said "The key to living through Recessions is choosing not to participate in them" which means keep living your life and let everybody else freak out over that stuff.

The OP used the word "war" curious about opinions as Elon Musk has been asked to turn off all the Tesla's in Russia.

Could than be done?

A reasonable punishment?

I can't wait to go ahead and get my Maverick been waiting seven and a half months now I have a big Chevy Silverado Z71 crew cab it gets lousy gas mileage and then the wife has a Jeep Cherokee which gets about 25 miles to the gallon so I'm very much looking forward getting my hybrid Maverick I'm on the way back from town gas is 4.29 unreal real. To all you ladies and gentlemen in the Maverick Club in the USA and Canada have a fantastic day☺

With these gas prices, there will be a huge rush to order a Hybrid Maverick come August. I bet Ford closes out Hybrid ordering within 2 months.

OP to your question: if you are worried, finance all of the truck cost, if things get really bad your not out much.

I have no problem paying more for gas right now due to the circumstances of geopolitics. My Ecoboost maverick is averaging 24-26 mpg on the highway right now and I couldn't be happier with this thing. It gets better gas mileage than my 2012 CRV.

I'm just driving my Hybrid Maverick more than my V8 vehicle, and limiting discretion snacks on the grocery list.

Meanwhile, leaders in all countries kill fattened calves for dinner and worship the golden ones. While we start having dinners at Costco for $1.50. The lesson; Costco has greater value than our leaders.

Yes, that can be done. Tesla was able to give Florida Tesla owners more mile to travel on the battery to get out of the way of a hurricane a few years back. Elon would not turn off Tesla's in Russia unless there was a "gun pointed at his head" as he previously stated on Twitter.

We ordered the Maverick well before needing another car (probably ~3yrs) because it was becoming evident that availability and overall cost of cars was dramatically going up - at least in the short-term. Locking in a $24k hybrid truck at 0% interest seems to increase our options during this crazy time.

rustru, I'm in the same train of thought. 17 ford escape that runs like a champ, paid for and probably gets better gas mileage. Selling my escape will pay for half this new truck, so I'm going to get the Maverick. The lesson I was taught 30 + years ago is that * life doesn't get less expensive over the years* so to come across a value in something new.... why not give a try. Good luck with yours, mine is on its way, ETA late this month.

I'm absolutely opposed to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. And I support economic actions that punish Russian leadership and encourage them to withdraw.

But I'm NOT in favor of deactivating private vehicles. Truly a terrible idea that would establish an even worse precedent.

I agree. The way vehicle prices are these days, the brand new Maverick I ordered for $31,000 seems like a better and better bargain all the time, when you consider used full-sized trucks with 100,000 miles and far worse gas mileage are selling daily for considerably more.

In the long term, I doubt you will look back five years down the road and regret the Maverick purchase, relative to whatever new vehicle costs will be in 2028.

I think we'll see the price on those older F-150s and the like drop with the rise in gas prices. Dealers have tripped over each other to pack their lots full with overpriced full size trucks that are going to be a hard sell with $4-5/gallon gas prices. Because the Maverick is still going to be relatively rare because of production numbers, I think it will continue to fetch a high price on used lots well into 2023.
As much as I liked my 2015 F-150, I wouldn't mind if my guess was correct. It got 18/25 vs the Mav EB 22/29. Would be happy to pocket the money from my 3k off Granger Mav and turn it into an F-150.
