Didn't order one just bought from dealer but wasn't going to get hybrid. Had bad experiences with them. But my maverick is AWD XLT FX4 4K and the awd with the faulken tires is unbeatable for on road snowy conditions or at least it has been for me driving through almost ever storm we had up here. And with the non hybrid get 29-30mpg religiously for me (with a little more to hopefully come when I get a few minutes to add some stuff) I am more than happy with my choice.

My big three reasons for ordering a Maverick were the price being only $20,000, having a ten year-old Colorado pushing 130,000 miles ( which is the oldest and highest mileage vehicle I have ever had), and spending so much on gas ( which is even higher since October). Since the Maverick is not a plug-in, just curious why anyone didn’t order the hybrid with near 50 mpg?
Many reasons for me, but a few would be that I wanted the 4k tow package, awd, conventional transmission, wanted more torque than the hybrid could offer, and I k ew with the world we are in that id be waiting longer as well for a hybrid. The ecoboost suits me better personally since mpg isn’t as much if a concern as long as it got better than the 95 impala I drove. It does so it succeeds in that haha.

Hybrid is for slow, stop & go city driving. If you do a lot of that, it's perfect for you. I drive mostly highway and wanted AWD.

For me it was the AWD option. Truthfully, I’d greatly prefer a hybrid. Even if it wasn’t necessarily an off-road package, just AWD with a snow setting would have been fine. If this ever becomes an option, I’ll likely jump on it right away.

I was interested in getting a Maverick, but they cannot tow our 3600 lb camper. Our 2009 Adrenalin Sport Trac AWD with the 4.6L V-8 can. To me the Maverick looks like a modern-day redesigned Sport Trac.

Boat towing. Need to tow 3,000-3,500#’s and AWD for precarious steep/slippery launches.

Because I hate that the battery is in the passenger seat.

...and AWD, that too.

All the answers about 4wd - I get it. My Lexus UH250H is interesting. Lexus advertises this as AWD - up to 45 mph. They added an electric motor to drive the rear wheels as well as the two in the front. Ford could do the same to make the Maverick "AWD" up to a certain speed.

I feared the hybrid would be too under powered for me as I am used to big sixes and V8s before that. I did have a 4 cylinder Mercury Capri years ago and it was a big dog. If the EB can actually make close to 30 mpg I’ll be happy.

And this is might be why Ford wouldn't bother with an AWD hybrid, since offering it could further tilt the orders towards the hybrid ? Perhaps 75/25% at that point ?

I ordered a hybrid on 7/4 but a month later I found out my pop-up camper would push it to or over the 2,000 pound limit. That is why I upgraded to AWD 4K. Even with the AWD 4K Maverick I will still get better gas mileage than buying a Ranger.
