Any classic maverick owners here besides me??
Many Maverick car club forums hate the truck name and are pissed about the name.
I find them agnst ridden gearheads . I like the truck, name or not, I have mine due in tis week and can't wait to drive my 73 maverick to pick up my 22 maverick.

ford sold that Maverick in europe and china for a few years in 01-05 i believe . funny since it wasnt available here in the u.s., the car guys were silent. The Brazilian Maverick is slightly different than the us version. Very popular car down south of the border

I never owned one of the old Mavericks but I helped build many thousands of them when I worked at the Ford kansas City assembly plant.
Just plain thank you sir.
My wife had a 72 when I met her. It had 6 cylinder automatic, 2-door, no power steering no power breaks. It got us through our first 10 years of marriage and would have ran longer but in Ohio the salt melted it away. Undercoating back then was lousy. So we ordered this one 50 years later. I hope this Maverick has your lucky streak touch for going on and on with dependability that you gave to that 72 and more.

Sweet! My first car was the 73 in green. It had a great but weak 200 ci straight 6 engine. Seeing the car turn into a truck is a little odd but I’ll get used to it.

I dont have thd pics on here but will post later. Had me a sweet 74 with 70 bumpers shelby badging and cougar taillights. Ohh an a AFR headed 306 I could wring above 6500 rpm and still be pulling hard. It made you really feel alive over 120mph on country roads in Greene County Ohio. Fastest car I ever had and the only ticket ever processed was a red light camera. All the others like 65 in a 20mph on the street I lived on the cops just shrugged it off as good fun! Such a fun car even with manual steering and brakes.

I sold it for money to ship my 79 4x4 Econoline to Maui when I moved here. Unfortunately that van burned up a few years ago. Maybe I made the wrong choice, but I did fall in love with my wife in the back of that van a week or two after it landed on island.

There were a lot of crappy cars in those days, and the Maverick did nothing to set its apart from them. The new Mav is unique and earning accolades from a variety of automotive news media. The name has moved on and taken on new and better associations. I’m all for it.

They were only crappy in comparison to the current quality of cars. At the time they were just normal.

I had a 76 Comet, the Mercury version of the old Maverick. The hood went on forever, haha. It was a fun car to drive in good weather, but just a sled in the snow. My sister ended up sliding off an overpass in a snowstorm and totalling it. Thankfully she was ok.

It was an awful flat baby blue paint. Gawd I hated most of the 70's paint colors.
