So you pay for solar to sell it back to the power company which they in turn quadruple the price and sell it to others? Wow. They have no infrastructure costs and make 400%.
Now, I'm not too sure how it works in NV, but friends in Calif make more per K/W than I do in AZ. But I like my elec bill, it's zero. I can run my house as cool as I like it without worrying about what it cost.

Doesn’t pencil out for me. My highest electric bill living here in Vegas was 156. It would take a long time to pay back $20k in solar saving $700 per year on my bill.

I would have loved an elec Bill of $156, try $500+ in the summertime. Now, I have zero. Having a house that has zero elec bill is a nice thing when you sell.

in your calculation consider that the inflation and other adjustments will make that $156 close to 200 or 300 in20 years. You add to that tgat many more vehicles will have batteries and things start to make more sense.

This is the reason why Solar makes sense, our Corporation Commission (they regulate who companies can charge) always sides with the power companies on rate hikes. The price is only going up, we have an order in for a Hyundai Ionqi 5 which means we will be able to charge t at any time we want. I'm betting in the next 2 years the Maverick will get a PHEV version, which will be nice.

Did you mean how "small" it felt?
On reflection I guess you're right. It's a small vehicle and I'm ashamed that the Maverick will be only marginally longer, yet narrower. We should all just buy EcoSports and stop this nonsense.

Investing the money not being paid on solar will make way more than inflation. One of my investments was up 112% last year and 93% first 2 quarters of this year.

It is all relative when it comes to investments. The largest investment you have is your home. With the added resale value, off the grid, and being able to be as comfortable as I want to be at any time means, I have a wonderful investment.

Ecosport is literally the worst car that Ford has ever produced. Fight me! 😋

Most solar/grid buybacks are that way, as the power companies lobbied for home solar to be considered as an energy wholesaler, and thus the cheap wholesale prices they pay. I contacted a solar installer for a bid, and as it would be grid tied, the installer wanted to review my previous year electric use to design the system. I stated that I wanted to produce more than I consume, and they pushed back saying that the power company doesn't like us to put in more than you will use. They didn't say they wouldn't do it, but it was implied that they shouldn't do it. I think what I will do, one year before I go solar, is to use the hell out of electricity to drive up my usage, then after solar is installed, find ways to reduce my use.

Looking at the images I also believe the maverick will have better visibility of the road and its surrounding..as its front is not a 4'-5' wall as in other trucks design..

https://paultan.org/2021/06/10/us-p...ans-and-occupants-of-smaller-vehicles-report/

Analysis of industry data by Consumer Reports shows that the height of bonnets on passenger trucks has increased, on average, by at least 11 since 2000, and new pick-up trucks have become 24% heavier between 2000 and 2018. On trucks such as the Ford F-250, the front edge of its bonnet is now at least 55 inches (1,397 mm) tall, or as tall as the roof on some sedans, according to the publication.

New data compiled by Consumer Reports found that drivers of these newer, larger vehicles have poorer lines of sight, which means that pedestrians or smaller vehicles can be hidden directly in front of them. “These trends are alarming. Automakers must put safety first for people inside and outside the vehicle,” said Consumer Reports manager of safety policy William Wallace

Maybe more pedestrians should put down their phones when walking into traffic……then it would not be an issue.

Not a bad car like the Pinto. Now what the customer wanted for sure, but it didn't blowup when hit from behind.
