What should I be cross shopping for towing in the 4-5K range and four doors? Any ideas under
$35K? Thanks!

A Toyota Highlander meets your criteria. The Rav4 would also be another vehicle to consider.

Since your only needs are under $35K, four doors, and a towing capacity between 4,000-5,000 pounds either one should suffice.

Rangers tow 3500 standard, 7500 with package.

Edges & Escapes will do 3500 with package

Santa Cruz does 3500, have to go to a premium model to get it to 5000

Frontier goes to 6750, I don't know what it takes to get there or the model lineup to make it happen but seems fairly easy even on base models.

Colorado is 3500, 7000 with the right engine and package. Looks like Tacomas are the similar.

All the midsize trucks will be ~8 grand more than the Maverick for similar trim levels.

Huge number of options. 4k isn't a hard threshold. But we have no idea what other features you need. A 15 year old, bare bones half ton will do it but may not be what you are looking for.

Another consideration is not just will it, but how well. Santa Cruz AWD Turbo is rated to 5k. But I'd rather tow with the Maverick than a Santa Cruz, Highlander, etc. It's more of a bonus option not their prime focus. But towing is in the Ford Truck DNA with Maverick.

When I found the Maverick I was actually looking at a Subaru Outback as I was looking for something in that 4K towing range. Most of the small suvs top out at 1500lb towing.

Thanks! Needs to be brand new and able to tow a smaller pop-up or a 18ish center console easily. I didn’t know the Toyota SUVs could come close as we have an older Venza that tops out at 1K.
