You have the legal right to keep it as a free gift, according to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Sellers aren't permitted to ask for payment for unordered items, either, and the FTC says consumers are under no obligation to even tell the seller about the wrongly delivered merchandise or required to send anything back.

Its your choice, not sure if you knew this but thanks anyway.
Just saw this! Question...If you were the shipper and mistakenly shipped all these to a purchaser, wouldn't you hope the buyer would be honest and allow you to prepay return shipping to get them back rather than having to eat them as financial loss? Legalities from the FTC wouldn't have much to do with my conscience knowing I kept these when they weren't really mine. I heard an old saying many years ago that I've put to use in my own life many times..."You can be RIGHT, yet be WRONG in the way you're RIGHT!" I do hope the purchaser returned the mirrors in good faith he didn't pay for. I'm just saying!

I will be sending them back. I printed the return shipping label but I keep forgetting it at work. They will be going back some time this week. They actually sent 10 mirrors not 7. I thought it was 7 from what was written on the outside of the box.

I would have loved to see that mod inside your cab!

Just an FYI for some of these older mirrors with Homelink: There are like 5 or more generations of Homelink, and depending on the age and brand of your garage door, the mirror may not work directly. Using one of the Homelink repeater/adapters may be necessary. They aren't expensive and are easy enough to set up, but just wanted people to know in the event they can't get their remotes to program.

It would be like a wall of tv’s at the local sports bar. I could sit in the driver seat and see every inch of the cab without turning my head. Mirrors pointing in all directions.

As far as the mirror is concerned just unscrew it and slide up. Be sure you have a panel popper set to remove the black shroud.

I just quick tapped ground on the mirror to ground in the overhead lights (black to black) Then tapped the other two from the mirror to the yellow/green 12v from the overhead lights.

Those connectors look slick and easy to use. They are new to me.
I suspect they come in different sizes for different gauge wire. Which size worked for you on the mirror and where can they be purchased?

I can’t believe there’s 26 pages talking about a mirror. I admit I haven’t read them. I’m 66 and grew up having to reach up and flip the mirror when some idiot came up behind me with his brights on. I survived and so will you. There are other mods I’d rather spend my money on, like splash guards, tonneau cover, fender flares, etc.

I started this and not sure why there’s so much talk about it either haha. It was $18 for me and I just like the auto dim feature and can have my garage door opener wireless. 🤷🏻‍♂️

No argument from me.

My last Tacoma came with an auto dimming mirror and boy was it nice. Now driving a 2018 CRV with no auto dim and having had it in the Tacoma I realize what a nice feature it was.

On another note, my CRV has blind spot and back up warnings like the CoPilot 360. I have never had that on another vehicle and am really appreciating it.

Point is, I survived to 64 but have come to realize that comfort is key.

Any Canadian members let me know, I might have one extra mirrors that I can part it out. I'm from BC.
I was able to order it from Kia . parts ( A7062-ADUP1 ) to ship to Canada, worth a try :)

Scotchlok t-taps or wire tap connectors are the term. There's also regular scotchloks connectors which connect the wires parallel instead of perpendicular and don't require a spade terminal. They're color coded based on the range of wire size they're designed for like butt connectors or other terminals; red, blue, yellow, etc.

They're pretty common for add in electronics although they can cause headaches down the road. They can start to lose connection after a few years or cause problems with the original circuit (a common problem with remote starter installs that don't utilize plug'n'play harnesses). Especially since it's breaking the wire insulation and exposing the wire to potentially develop corrosion within the jacket. So they really should be avoided for any circuits carrying signaling, powering more than a few amps, or any exterior/engine compartment applications.
