I guess the hybrid folks probably like it more than the EB crowd since is a fuel saving gadget. I understand the EB guys not wanting it. Here’s an idea to help remember to turn it off: put something like a sheet of paper or plastic on the drivers seat when you get out that you won’t miss when you get in the next time.

On the current year F-150 when you order there is an option to delete the 'auto stop/start' feature. with a $50 credit. maybe Ford will have this available in the MY23 Mavs. It may be available on other Fords and Lincolns.

I agree that I HATE it. We currently have an Escape and have had the engine shut completely off at a traffic light where we have to put the car in Park and start it again. Annoying when you're the first car and people behind you are honking. I usually remember to hit the button but agree that there should be a way to permanently disable it.

Its got to be something that helps manufacturers claim certain emissions or gas mileage or something like that.. I hate the delay of waiting for it to start every time, and it always seems to shut off just before I need to go again.. There's also no way it can be good for the starter..

Im just trying to get in the habit of making it part of my start up routine. Truck on>put in drive>turn off startstop
Agreed 100%. Terrible for the starter. Not good for oil circulation and wear on the engine. NOTHING good comes from this other than the EPA being happy with 15 seconds less of ICE running.

I hit that button nearly every time I get into my Ranger and I HATE it when I forget.

Never had it before and I like it . I also like auto break hold . they both work great . hardly notice when engine shuts down and no lag when gas peddle depressed .

this auto-stop has been around in many vehicles for many years (1974 toyota crown i googled it) and helping emissions/fuel economy, etc... yes there are a few members trying to use forscan remedies and you already know the "$100 thingy" if you really HATE should be a very cheap modification for you to quit whining  or maybe keep your money & just remember to hit the button provided for you to make your life easier. sorry, but it's not a big deal for me and don't understand why's you get so upset?

The $100 thingy wouldn't be a thingy if only a few people hated this feature.

And sorry you don't like my whining... would you say you HATE my whining?

yes the aftermarket makes many things for modifying factory equipment and is one of the things i love seeing what people are doing to their mavericks & other vehicles, people spend a lot of money on changing things they don't like or want to improve - as for your whining it's ok by me, but why not just buy the $100 thingy that people already have otherwise you will have to buy the forscan (unless someone you know has it) which also costs money but can change other stuff too? i don't believe ford is going to do it for you for free they already provided a button to make your own choice to use it or not :ROFLMAO: i thought $100 would be cheap if you really don't like the feature, your money/your right to whine about it too. sorry to tease you by using the whining term also.

Nailed it, it’s an emissions thing

To the OP, if you’re looking for “free”, I’m pretty sure somebody was able to shut it off with forscan.

No worries... but I don't see it as whining anyway, I'm just making it known that doing all the work to give us a button to turn it off, but not a way to turn it off permanently is really frustrating.

Most likely my frustration is really with the growing list of government regulations, automotive and otherwise. I don't know if there is a mandate that new cars must have this feature (and I know it's been around for several years now) but there definitely should not be a mandate for it.

You can thank CAFE for auto-S/S. The OEM does not get the full credit if the system is able to be permanently shut off, thus the temporary button. That gives the OEM the best of both worlds.....full CAFE credit, and the customer can still (temporarily) shut it off.

Like most things, you'll get used to hitting that button just as normal as twisting the key, or pushing the start button.....just takes a little time, especially given this is your first Auto-S/S rodeo. 🤠

I’m not a fan. Now used to shutting it off. Let’s remember it’s not just a Ford thing. It’s the government mandate for fleet mileage standards is my understanding. You have no say over your phone features un user interface. Cars are becoming the same.

If I'm remembering what has been posted here and not wanting to look at the owner's manual, I think I'm going to have to get used to pushing the "eco mode" on my truck each time I get in as that is the setting I want. I can't understand why FORD didn't have that be the default.🤷‍♀️.

Also, my Escape is in Auto/Stop mode, but I hardly ever notice it. My music either drowns it out or the cold weather keeps it from engaging. Not sure, but when I go to check that it is on, it says it is.
