Good news, bad news. The salesman told me it was damaged and then sold it to someone else!

Absolute scumbags. Stole the vehicle out from a customer with a firm order, lied to the customer about it, immediately sold with ADM to someone else. Don’t just walk, RUN away from these slimy scumbags.

This was a truck that had been ordered and then turned down by the customer. They had my license and credit card but would never charge a deposit even when I kept calling. If they don’t have a deposit they are able to sell to the highest bidder…pretty shady!

Okay I was under the impression that you ordered one and they sold it out from underneath you. Still extremely shady though.

Unfortunately not quite firm because they would not run the deposit on my credit card even though I kept asking them to. And I would definitely tell people to run away from them!

FWIW, my guess (only a guess) is that the OP's truck's roof was badly damaged so that repair is uneconomical for the dealer. The claim that they are going to "send it back" (to Mexico?) is truly weird, but that may be some sort of misunderstanding.

Given that insurance replaced the roof(complete) and hood on a Jeep "Something" due to hail damage at a body shop(in CALIF) rather than total it, I suspect that the roof of a Maverick would not cause it to be totaled even if complete replacement was necessary. The Jeep was a 'wagon' style, not a CJ-type. Calif labor rates are quite high in comparison to the rest of the USA.

My truck hasn't been delivered and I see very little information in the FordPass app. The Vehicle History Report is something that only the dealer can see. But they can print you a copy and email it to you. It looks like this:

Yours should have a lot more information on it, including all the detail on the shipping.

I didn’t order either one of them, I just kept calling around until I found one. I currently have an order for an eco-boost because the hybrid orders were stopped which will end up being part of their inventory.

Yes it is long probably because of all the twists and turns of a slimy dealership. The truck I bought is not the one I would have ordered originally but I am extremely happy with it and the price!

I mean pretty shady practice and very common nowadays with hot vehicles like Maverick. I have seen this happened a dozen time in past few months.

Sadly nothing can be done here to the dealer by anyone including Ford themselves.

Thank you! Sad to hear even Ford won’t do anything I was hoping they might reduce their allotment of hot vehicles in the future. Maybe the online reviews will help others

There was a guy in a nearby town who had a real bad issue with a local judge. He put a big sign on a frame on top of his vehicle and drove around with it for , I would guess ten years. He also lived on a fairly busy street and would always park it on the road so as many people as possible could see it. Can’t remember exactly what it said, but something like “Judge xyz is a POS. “You could always go that route lol.
