Spray-In Bed Liner not standard equipment - FWIW

Hey Folks,
Yesterday, I found out - thru this forum - that the bed liner that I assumed was standard equipment (based on all the photos I had seen) is NOT standard equipment. My order went to Ford nearly 2 months ago, so interrupting the order does not seem wise. So, I contacted my dealer. No problem. He uses Line-X for bed liners. Line-X is apparently well-known; there is one right here in my small town.

Anyway, my dealer says that the spray-in liner holds up better than the drop-in plastic liner, which tends to crack in the sunlight. The cost of the spray-in liner for a F-150 short-bed is $550.

It's standard on the Lariat. Which trim are you getting?

Edit: It's standard on the Luxury packages for XLT and Lariat.

I chose drop-in because I've had no experience with other types of bedliners and it was the cheapest option. The dealer I ordered from informed me of the pros/cons of each bedliner (Hey, Ford, this stuff would be helpful in the item details on your site) and I ended up going with his offer of getting the spray-on done at the dealer for nearly the same price as drop-in. I loved how my Velocity Blue looked in the bed in those photos from Mexico, but it would get destroyed in the Florida sun here if I didn't protect it. I like how the spray-on is more textured and helps minimize cargo sliding around. Can't wait!

I think its standard on the Lariat lux package like the XLT lux package. I ordered a Lariat but had to add the spray in bed liner as a stand alone option.

It's been many years since I used a drop in liner. Unless they are doing more to protect the paint from abrasion, I would never use one in a new truck.

With the off and on availability of the spray in liner, I deleted mine. I can get a Rhino or Line X done for $100 more and both come with a lifetime guarantee vs Ford‘s 36 month.

Spray-in after delivery is what I’m doing but spray-in dealer will have to scuff sand the bed of the truck to apply another liner like Rino or LineX.

If it is done right at the factory they would have to scuff the paint too. I watched a video of a Ford spray in being taken off a F150 and the paint under it was shiny and they were able to pull it off in large patches, not impressed.

At the time of my order, the sprayed in liner was going to delay my order for 1 or 2+ months, or more, so dealer suggested dropping the spray-in option And have a local LineX/Rino dealer do it.

Was the $550 quote through your dealer? Dealers are so nice and put your needs first that they add an upcharge. Call your local line x dealer directly it will be less. Also, let them know the dimensions of the bed.

It always pays to read the fine print. When you do the build-one feature online the bed liners all show as an extra cost option or part of a package .

I was quoted $500 by a local Ford dealership but I’d wager that they farm to a local shop and have markup for the dealer. My plan is to go directly to a Rino dealer in my neighborhood…should be less than $500 due to the small size of the Maverick bed.

It will be lower. Ask for the dealer price since you just came from them when you get to the liner place Be ready for a surprise. Then tell the owner they are quoting the dealership to low
