Question for people that already have their Mavericks. My wife's 2015 Taurus has a oil life counter. It's been awhile since we had the oil changed and it's telling us there's still 30% to go. Question is do we have one on the Maverick, and are you using it or sticking to the 3 months 3,000 miles. This is what I found when I did a search online.

The Ford Pass App has an oil life monitor. When it's to the point it needs to be changed it will drive you crazy with pop ups. I go by the monitor in the app

The intelligent oil info is quite smart nowadays. It takes into factor, idle time, temperatures, load, and driving habits. In the owners manual it indicates that depending on your driving habits, they recommend different intervals, I’d stick to the what the indicator tells you. But if you don’t drive the full mileage follow the time frame recommendations. If you tow a lot and drive hard then your oil life monitor will adjust accordingly .

The price of repairs on the turbo motors I'd definitely change the oil and filter either 3 or 5 thousand miles and never over 6 months

When i worked at the ford dealer being in the prairies the DSM told us to use the severe duty service cycle due to our extremes in -40C to +40C and constant wind and dust. With modern oils i change mine now every 6000kms and haven't EVER had a problem.

I just go every 5000 miles regardless of what the app says. It usually shows I have something like 40% left because I mostly do highway/interstate driving. Oil changes are cheap. The risk/reward ratio of trying to squeeze every mile out of an oil change just isn’t there

Both my wife's 2009 Honda CR-V and my previous 2015 Honda Fit had a "Maintenance Minder" which would let you know when to change the oil but the manual like Ford's says if the indicator does not come on in a year to change it then.

I drive about 5,000 miles annually and the wife about 1,000 so we always change the oil at the yearly interval.

The Maverick has an oil life indicator. I asked dealer about changing the first oil early, & they said it's not necessary. I usually keep my eye on the oil & change it when gets darker in color. With my Taurus that was 3200 with conventional oil & over 4000 with semi-synthetic.

I don't have a Ford yet but I usually do one a year using a full synthetic. VW calls for once a year or every 10,000 miles whichever comes first. Three months or 3,000miles is not really necessary with a modern synthetic

3 month -3,000 mile oil change are always recommended by those who sell oil and associated service. More money in their pocket..
Such unscrupulous businesses many times recycle the oil and they claim it's new oil purchased in bulk, but you never know unless you open the can yourself. There are places you can send out your oil for analysis, but few do that unless you're NASCAR or have a plane you're concerned about. The car companies spent a fortune analyzing engine oil life.

Jump in the way back machine to the early 1970's when MOBILE 1 first offered it's synthetic.. They claimed the "ONCE A YEAR OIL CHANGE" They claimed MOBILE 1 would last 25,000 miles per year and even recommended it in police vehicles.. I've been running Mobile 1 since it came out.

The city of Royal Oak Michigan POLICE , had Pontiacs one year that had to have their oil checked -changed etc. at the GM tech center in Warren Michigan.. they did have one Pontiac that was a screamer.. I was involved with taking a few of the Pontiacs over to the Tech center during that time, in the early 1980's.. Never heard the results but it was obvious GM was doing research into oil and such.. Everyone wanted to know what magic was in that one Pontiac however.

My last 2 vehicles. only Mobile 1..
A 2013 Mercedes C250 . 2 liter turbo..I bought it new. I traded for the Maverick with 152,000 on the odometer. Never used a drop of oil. I changed the oil myself every October.. 13,800 average miles per year....Always Mobile 1.
Then a 2002 GMC Duramax 2500HD.. Also bought new. I still have it, it's my heavy hauler. with 233,000 on the odometer.. again 1 oil change per year. every October. Does not leak oil or use any. I always change the oil myself. Always Mobile 1. Average 10,590 per year.

My Maverick- bought September changed oil October with 0w-20 Mobile 1 and a Mobile 1 filter. Since it's October I wanted to get the factory break in oil out . One tank of gas since and average is 40.45 mpg. I just have a bit over 2000 miles on it. I expect excellent longevity as I've had with other makes and models using Mobile 1..

Best of luck- I sleep well knowing my oil regiment works for me.
