Is there a way to default the operation mode to Eco rather than having to change it from normal to Eco every time you use it?

Someone needs to use Forscan and change the code to see if that will work

Has Ford pushed out any software updates yet? We should start a rally cry..”Mode options Mode options”

Common sense would have the hybrid start up on Eco mode everytime. I'm sure someone on this forum will find an answer for us.

Your idea of common sense is different than mine. I do not have a MAV hybrid yet, but do have a RAV4 hybrid and it defaults to NORMAL mode too. I never use ECO mode because it sucks. I call it grandma mode. Your fuel economy is in your right foot.

The ECO mode in my Maverick gives me plenty of power...perhaps you are a race car driver?

No. You don't get to choose because it all works together. Can't think why it matters whether the truck starts using the electric motor, the gasoline engine, or cycles back and forth, as long as it starts.

Racing is for the track, thank you very much.

In my RAV4 the power is the same in all modes. It is the gas pedal that varies its sensitivity depending on the mode chosen.

In eco mode pressing the pedal results in a slow response. Normal mode is, well, normal. And sport and trail modes are very responsive. I simply do not like the slow response of eco mode, and that is why I say fuel mileage is in your right foot. I use mostly normal and once in a while, sport.

Since I do not have my MAV yet, I don't know if it works the same way.

It should be possible with software update, I know my Camry Hybrid defaults to the last used on start up. We keep it in eco mode for the most part and put it in sport when rarely needed.

I wish that I could change the default as well. Eco adds a little extra regen, which is good. If I need a more responsive gas pedal, I can choose a different mode—or just push a little harder when I need more power. But eco is great for my commute and running errands.
