Was going to purchase a 2022 XLT FX4 tonight. Salesman came back with a $5,000 market adjustment. I had to walk away. They should just say the msrp is $33k instead on $28k. I would have never gone and wasted time at the dealership. With the destination charges and taxes they are adding almost 10k on to the price with this adjustment.
Why don't you name the dealer?

The vast majority of people on this website think that mark-ups that large are total BS.

Maybe the negative commentary surrounding their mark-up would prompt them to think twice about their pricing strategies.......

Matt Bowers Ford in Metairie, LA. I wanted to go with them because they had the fx4 already and they offer a lifetime warranty on their vehicles as long as you do your regular service with them, some may think that extra would be worth it. But they tried to sneak in a 2k wheel and tire warranty into the price too, but those are worthless imo.

I have to add, the salesman seemed like a nice dude and im sure its the manager pushing this, but his way of like brushing off the extra was telling me someone came in and spent the extra on a bronco. SO? I said take that off and ill buy it right now, but they wouldnt.

If everyone would just walk away from any dealer that marks them up over msrp eventually that will get the hint and stop doing it, but, if people keep paying it, they will keep doing it. Just my $0.02 worth.

I'm super confused, is it market adjustment or is it out the door cost? You mentioned that its a huge markup with destination and taxes but those things aren't markups.

So when you add 5k on to the 28k that's pre tax. Meaning you are paying more in taxes as well. The 28k is the msrp of the vehicle they had and i offered to pay that price, they wanted 5000 more, this isnt me saying oh the base price is 22 and they charged me all this shit for fx4 and a tow package.

Doesnt matter at this point i got quoted in writing and signed 28,860 from a different dealer. They also said the 500 deposit they will use to ship it to me if I want. Or i can just go up there and get it.

Cool ..... so now everybody in the greater New Orleans region knows to look out for bulls**t shenanigans from MATT BOWERS FORD.

Maybe somebody from MATT BOWERS FORD might catch wind of how you took your business somewhere else and why.

Maybe somebody from MATT BOWERS FORD might consider changing their way of doing business so they don't develop a bad reputation and lose more customers.

I LOVE the free-market system we have in the USA!! But it cuts both ways.....

They have the absolute right to jack-up prices and sneak in junk extras....just as we consumers have the absolute right to shout out to the world how SHI**Y they are compared to the dealer down the road!!

You are absolutely right. I said if I was the manager knowing someone will walk in from BR or the Northshore and pay that price, sell it to them at markup. But im not that person and im offering what you are advertising.

And the even better part is, I was willing to trade in my Jeep knowing I was going to get much less than what they would sell it for. So they missed out on a perfectly good used vehicle for profit as well.
