Was going to purchase a 2022 XLT FX4 tonight. Salesman came back with a $5,000 market adjustment. I had to walk away. They should just say the msrp is $33k instead on $28k. I would have never gone and wasted time at the dealership. With the destination charges and taxes they are adding almost 10k on to the price with this adjustment.

I recently bought a 2021 Bronco Sport Badlands, which seem to be in pretty short supply. Found it in-transit, inquired and verified that I could get it at MSRP before I ever set foot in the dealership. Gave them $500 (refundable) to hold it from when it arrived to when we could arrange a test drive (they are an hour plus from my home). All done over text and email, all numbers known in advance and all I had to do was go sign the papers and be on my way with it.

I called two weeks ago and was told they will sell it for MSRP but when I went there the salesman tried to add 3,000 until I told him I was told MSRP so he removed it. I would call around until they agree to MSRP, somebody will.

I am going to try and go to another dealer tomorrow and order one, they said I have to order one, and see if they will let me have it at msrp.

Same thing happened to me. I'll wait for the '23 order bank to open. I want a Hybrid.

Find a dealer that does not do market adjustments. We walked from 3 before finding the one we ordered from . Or just order from Tim on this forum - they keep it easy

Consider ordering from Granger for 3k below MSRP. Worth the wait

I found a dealer a bit closer to me willing to do the order at msrp. The salesperson said the market is going to correct itself and people will remember. The only problem is the dealership is 300 miles away. But still cheaper to go pick it up or get it delivered than having the adjusted market value added on.

Actually quoted me about $1k cheaper than the build out price on fords website. Went ahead and put the $500 deposit down. Now I just have to wait.

I'm super confused, is it market adjustment or is it out the door cost? You mentioned that its a huge markup with destination and taxes but those things aren't markups.

Did you even try to read the first post? "5k market adjustment. With other fees, comes close to 10k".

Yes? Hence my confusion because taxes/destination are all known quantities and have little to nothing to do with the dealer. Also let's be honest "almost $10k" is including $4,000 in options at least with the fx4 package/ecoboost.

Personally yeah I agree with the general premise that the MSRP gets you excited about something you can't actually afford. But this isn't any different than buying a flatscreen TV and realizing taxes actually push the price up to $3,000. As a separate thing yes a $5k markup sucks but bundling markup with options, taxes, and destination fees in a single complaint is a little ridiculous.
