In either case, hybrid or turbo, the maverick seems to be punching way above its weight when it comes to towingFor comparison here is TFL's test of the 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid towing a 1500 lb trailer
It's MAVERICK Time: Ford's Tiniest Truck Takes On The World's TOUGHEST Towing Test!
There were only 3 brake applications. Noise was at 71 db but rose to 77 for a period. It also averaged 11 MPG.
They scored it at 92 1/2 out of 100.
Love the competing personalities!I always love watching these, but then I remember I will literally never end up towing anything ever![]()
Yeah that was a little worrisome. I imagine that Ford tested the truck doing harder things than this, but that temp gauge was really rising at the end there.I'm a little concerned with how hot the Maverick got when towing up hill. I thought the 4K tow package upgraded radiator and fan would have done a better job.
+ Being outside @ elevation in the winter , like was it even 38 degrees outside ?Yeah that was a little worrisome. I imagine that Ford tested the truck doing harder things than this, but that temp gauge was really rising at the end there.

You can’t tow the MAX 4k with a 4k tow package with a steep incline/decline, high altitude, and pushing it to 60 the whole time without expecting some excess heat. In the owners manual it is recommended to change the transmission fluid far more frequently (30k vs 150k) if you tow on a regular basis due to excess heat.Yeah that was a little worrisome. It should be noted... The hybrid Ecoboost was pulling double the weight of the hybrid. For comparison here is TFL's test of the 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid towing a 1500 lb trailer

For the Hybrid there were only 3 brake applications. Noise was at 71 db but rose to 77 for a period. It also averaged 11 MPG going up the mountain.
They scored the Hybrid at 92 1/2 out of 100.
For the Maverick EcoBoost AWD with the 4K tow package this is what they got:
There were only 9 brake applications. Noise was at 66 db. It also averaged 6.5 MPG going up the mountain.
I think being at elevation world harm cooling .. Less dense air moving over radiator means less air to transfer heat to.+ Being outside @ elevation in the winter , like was it even 38 degrees outside ?
Right, good point. I forgot about air density @ elevation.I think being at elevation world harm cooling .. Less dense air moving over radiator means less air to transfer heat to.
That said... Texan here. I'm not gonna be towing up mountains anytime soon...I think most will be fine.
