Replaced original battery on 22 hybrid at 85k

All the horror stories and somehow I bought the unicorn. The original flooded battery just started the no dome light symptom as well as the occasional for no reason at all needing to be jumped off a battery pack I have always kept under the rear seat. Twice I have used a NOCO battery tender/charger to desulfate, but beyond that, nothing special. I still went with the the larger H5 AGM from Walmart with the four year replacement warranty and performed the required 8 hour BMS procedure.

Unicorn here too. I've got a 23 and almost 28,000 miles. I'm still on the original flooded motorcraft battery. Although, I did remove the telematics 11/12 fuse. 🤞🏻

The fact you actually DROVE thing is likely why your battery held up. So many people here barely drive their trucks.

You put on more miles in a year then some people have on their 2022s.
True, but there are several times it sits for a week or more at the airport, never an issue. Plus a lot of those miles are long distance drives, the rest of the time there are a lot of no or 12 mile days. Exclude the longer drives and this would be a 12k miles a year truck. It is also towed behind my motorhome a few times a year, but with a charge line.

Bro there are guys here who havent hit 12k on their 2022s yet. Excluding your long trips, you are STILL in the top ~5% of users mileage wise per year.

Mine held up fine also and I managed to get a free replacement when they finally sent out the recall on 12v batteries.

I’m sure there are, but there are many with mileage over 12k that have had battery issues. I haven’t seen a study that correlated mileage to battery failure. I may be one fortunate enough to have a factory battery that lasted. Mine was amongst the very first built. Do you really think 20k a year puts me in the top 5% of usage? ”Men drive an average of \(6,000\) more miles per year than women, with American men averaging between \(16,000\) and \(19,000\) miles annually. “

And here I was thinking that your high voltage battery went out. Glad it was the 12V. The H5 AGM from Walmart is what I would've gone with as well. Way cheaper than AutoZone but easy enough to get a replacement compared to Amazon.

56k miles on my "22 and have the 4th 12v battery. Last one was an AGM that I had to pay for out of pocket. No wonder you never see the advertisement saying, "Quality is Job 1" any more. I've lost track of my recall notices. Got another one yesterday. Won't buy Blue Oval again.

Omg, I read this thinking you needed new hybrid batteries- relieved it was just the std 12 volt. Yours lasted more than 90% of 12 volts in any vehicle, virtually no battery has a 4yr warranty.

I have had exactly 1 recall notice on my 2024 and it was performed yesterday. when I first learned about the Maverick I was still working and used a full size truck. But I also knew the track record of the big 3 with first year models so I didn't even consider a 2022.

I have had exactly 1 recall notice on my 2024 and it was performed yesterday. when I first learned about the Maverick I was still working and used a full size truck. But I also knew the track record of the big 3 with first year models so I didn't even consider a 2022.
Serious question would you prefer Ford NOT do recalls for their mistakes?
My preference is that they design and build a vehicle that has both the mechanical and computer parts that work BEFORE they foist on customers. Most of my recalls are for software that they don't have fixes for.

Ten hours of drive time per day seems to fully charge 12volt. I also think the motorhome charge line helps replace need for noco times. I also have a 22 with OEM 12 volt but it only has 7,550 miles but sees Noco visit for 5+ days about every two months.

32,000 in 1 year and 9 months... only once did I notice that the internal lights did not come on. Left in northern Maine for a week twice for 7 days when off snowmobiling, once only to come back and find it buried. Started no problem on the remote. lol

Maybe I have a "unicorn" My Hybrid Maverick was delivered on 3/9/2022 with a flood battery.. I only have 12,602 miles on it now (7/1/2026} and it's in it's 5th year. I never had a problem starting my truck, although it spent a lot of time in sleep mode. I decided to get a AGM battery about 3 months ago figuring it's about due. Now my interior lights go on all the time, and my truck never sleeps. Check with Amazon for a great price for a H4 AGM . {$110}
