Towing Hybrid Maverick

Getting ready to tow my 2026 Hybrid for the first time after installing base plate and wiring. Does anyone know why directions tell you to NOT start the engine for 30 minutes after exiting tow mode? You almost always have to move it after disconnecting the tow bar!

We have a 2025 we flat tow and I have never done the 15 minute wait, we disconnect and drive to camp site and have never had any issues.

Trainrider did you install the base plate yourself and what brand/model. What brake system do you plan to use and tow bar. We are getting ready to get ours setup to begin flat towing. The wait 15 minute wait issue seems bizarre....thank in advance for your reply!

Yes, I did it with the help of my son and grandson. I'm getting a little old for the twisting and turning. I used the Blue Ox baseplate and wiring kit. Instructions are are pretty straight forward. It does require some cutting of the shutters. I already used the Air Force One on my previous tow, so only had to install it in the truck (air tank already set up in the MH). Beats the $3k I was quoted.

I am decently handy and know some shutters will need to be cut but not sure I want to tackle by myself. The $3K was plate and labor I hope?

Nope, all labor for base plate, Air Force One, and wiring. It did include the wire loom and miscellaneous shop supplies.
