Bottom line up front, looking if anyone is familiar with the electrical connections in the sensor cluster above the rear view mirror.

I'm looking at finally hardwiring my dashcam. I know there are kits to tap the fusebox ( https://a.co/d/0aM64bqf ) and OBDII port options, but I think they're sloppy and unnecessary.

I was looking over the wiring diagrams for the lane keeping camera/temp/humidity sensor over the rear view mirror, and wanted to ask if anyone else has tapped the switched 12V power under the cover for a dashcam, and if there's a kit available. I know the XLT didn't come with auto-dimming mirrors, but that there may be an unused jack with switched 12V power under there.

For context, in the past, I used a kit that tapped my auto-dimming mirror on my Subaru BRZ to power my Radar detector, and it's a super clean, quick install that has been flawlessly reliable, but they don't explicitly support my dashcam https://a.co/d/003EYmmG that uses a USB Mini-B connector.

There are also 12V > USB mini-B hardwire kits with a stepdown transformer, I just need to know if anyone is familiar with tapping existing power in the camera/HVAC sensor cluster, or an unused auto-dimming mirror jack that could be tapped for a dashcam. They're low-wattage devices so I'm unconcerned with blowing a fuse.

You could tap into the IPMA connector, its on a 10A fuse & IGN switched or RTM 7.5A & hot at all times

LOL, That's certainly not true. OBDII or fuse block connection done properly is 100% as clean and hidden as powering via the rear view mirror point.... Garmin OBDII power port is a 3 minute install for hidden power.

Others and I have posted the pin-out here for power from the rear view mirror connector. Power accessed there requires a transformer for most all cameras...
