There was a time back in the day when I wanted a Muscle car during the 60s and 70s but it was out of the question while working to get through college. The 0 to 60 times of the Maverick Ecoboost are comparable. Check this out:

The 2025 Ford Maverick with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine achieves a 0 to 60 mph time in 5.9 to 6.4 seconds. Performance varies slightly depending on the exact trim—such as the sporty Lobo or the off-road Tremor—and available traction, but the truck generally sprints to highway speeds in just under six seconds.[1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Performance Breakdown by Trim
  • Standard AWD/FWD EcoBoost: \(5.9\) to \(6.4\) seconds. The 238-hp turbocharged four-cylinder pairs with an 8-speed automatic to deliver quick off-the-line torque.
  • Maverick Lobo: \(\sim 5.8\) seconds. The dedicated sport truck variant features specially tuned drive modes and an upgraded transmission for faster, more track-oriented responses.
  • Maverick Tremor: \(\sim 5.9\) seconds. While it features all-terrain tires and off-road suspension, the turbocharged engine still provides plenty of punch. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7]
FWIW the 2025 2.0 EB is still 250 Horsepower and 277 lb.ft of Torque on 91 octane fuel!!

Do you really think? I feel like proper throttle control and good tires you would be fine? no?
Not sure on the Hybrid but We had some big-time snowstorms here in Northeast, Ohio this past winter and My AWD EB Maverick wasn't the greatest in some of them!!

Yea, that makes sense! I think the original person said they stay in during the snow and only drive in their small town. So my guess is that they wouldn't be doing snowstorms lol. Also do you have any photos or videos of the maverick during the snow I would love to just see em lol

Did You ever find 17" wheels or sell Your 19" Wheels? I replied in the Tires and wheels section but not sure if you still look in that section?
I just went with 19” 235 Wildpeak at trails.

Quite pleased with them.

Honestly curious after a few years of ownership now…

If you were buying a Maverick again tomorrow, would you still go Hybrid or would you switch to EcoBoost?

The more I look at it, the more it feels like both drivetrains have their own tradeoffs and neither is the “perfect” answer anymore.

Hybrid:
• Better MPG obviously
• eCVT seems simpler long-term to some people
• A lot of owners reporting 40+ MPG consistently
• AWD + 4K tow now available
• But also had its fair share of recalls/electrical complaints/battery weirdness over the years

EcoBoost:
• Definitely feels quicker and stronger especially at highway speeds
• 250 hp / 277 tq vs 191 combined hp on the Hybrid
• Better for towing and people who actually load the truck often
• Easier to mod/tune
• But turbo + 8 speed long-term reliability debates come up constantly too

What surprised me most is the actual acceleration difference isn’t even THAT massive anymore depending on setup. Some testing had the newer AWD Hybrid around high 6s to 60 while the EcoBoost/Lobo was mid 5s to low 6s.

Then there’s the reliability arguments:
• Hybrid owners say the naturally aspirated 2.5 + eCVT is the safer long-term setup
• EcoBoost owners say the Hybrid has had more recalls/software/electrical issues
• Some people say the 8 speed is the bigger concern
• Others say modern hybrids become nightmares outside warranty

And honestly I still see people arguing both sides nonstop.

So after ACTUALLY owning one:
Would you buy the same drivetrain again or switch?

And why?

My first Maverick was ecoboost AWD my 2nd a hybrid fwd, 3rd hybrid fwd and 4th is a hybrid AWD. All were Lariats as I wanted the extra safety features (BLIS, lane keep, reverse sensing and adaptive cruise control) I’ve loved all 4 of them. My overall favorite is my current hybrid AWD with 4K tow.

I would choose the Hybrid again. However, I like the Maverick. If there was a “deal” on the EB I may take it. IMO good truck vs good truck.

My current Maverick is the 2025 Tremor; the first was 2024 Lariat. The main reasons for upgrading were the smoother ride, transmission, and 360 camera. I especially like the quickness and ride of the 2.0 Ecoboost. While not a factor, I came to appreciate the Twin Clutch Rear Drive Unit this past winter when having to drive in considerable amounts of snow which the truck easily handled.

Definitely the Hybrid again. The updated Hybrids are much stronger than earlier years, with the same mileage and AWD/4K capability. I already have hot rods, so no need with the Maverick. If they offered a factory 2.3 that could be tuned to 360-400HP I might go that way, but We've had a 2.0 before, and I find them uninspiring. So I'll keep the MPG. 75% of my driving is city, and the torque of the hybrid is great for positioning in traffic at lower speeds. I take a couple highway trips a year. Usually on vacation.

We have had two Mav hybrids, our original 2022 and our current 2025. Absolutely love the hybrid since we average in the 55+mpg range in town driving, and in the 40+mpg at highway speeds. Great little trucks to compliment our F-150.

My ‘24 Lariat hybrid FWD has easily exceeded my expectations and I’m pretty objective. My 2017 Frontier marginally met them. My big concern was FWD living in Maine, but since I no longer have a forced commute and bought deep tread snow tires that hasn’t been an issue at all. I also saved $2,000 by buying a “leftover” 2024 in mid March 2025.

I have a 24 Ecoboost and tow often in the winter (13' snowmobile trailer). Would have loved to wait for the 25 with the towing options, but it was not available at the beginning of production. Would I switch to hybrid? Not sure how well the hybrid would tow at highway speeds. My Eco tows great on the interstates where 75 speeds are available. PHEW, would be a consideration, but waiting to see what is offered for 2028. My wish is the 2.3 PHEW that is currently available in the Ranger overseas be available in the Mav.....
