I couldn't believe Blind Spot Assistance was not standard on all makes. I assumed it was standard just like my 2013 Escape. I only found out after purchasing and driving for a couple of days. I rely on that safety feature. Does anyone have some advice (DIY or Ford) how to add it after purchasing the vehicle ?

Mark welcome to the forum. 🤝
Unfortunately adding the BLIS system to your Maverick is going to be involved and expensive.
Just thinking about the parts makes it quite involved and economically quite expensive.
You'd have to replace both outside mirrors with ones that have the lights in them. I have no idea what those will cost$$$
You'd have to get the the two units that go in the bumper. Used these are anywhere from $100 to $200 a piece, plus wiring and programming if possible.🤷‍♂️

It's kind of in the same category of people who buy their Maverick and then realize that they don't have a trailer hitch.
A factory installed trailer hitch is a $100 option. People who have gotten estimates to have a trailer hitch and wiring installed have gotten estimates from $750 to $1500.

Go check your 2013 Escape window sticker, BLIS was only available as part of the Technology Parking option on SEL and higher trim packages.

It's part of Ford's CoPilot 360 package, which I think is optional. Retro-fitting would be v expensive.

When I ordered my '22 XLT hybrid in July 2021 the Ford 360 was $650.

It is possible to add with aftermarket blind spot monitoring but is going to be in the neighborhood of $750 for the hardware alone.

Another option is replacing the rear view mirror with something like one of the Wolfbox dashcams. It includes a 4k camera that offers a 170º field of view. I mounted that above the third brake light in a 3D printed housing found on Etsy.

I've found this solution SUPERIOR to BLIS because you can see vehicles as they are heading for blind spots not just once they are there.

My 2023 Maverick XLT had blind spot ID, 2026 XLT does not. Yes, Ford cut needed safety features.

It would be interesting to compare your window stickers for the 23 & 26

Update:
J.C.
As Tim says below in post #12 BLIS always been an option on the XLT
I'm guessing you didn't inspect the window sticker.

I guess it would depend on the std/optional features for the model years, but ford did do some Decontenting and/or making some things optional instead of standard I seem to recall could be wrong

That package has always been optional on XLT since the beginning. I've asked the brand manager to add it as standard on XLT and XL.
