I pulled a 6x12 Uhaul from Indy to Boston when my son moved. Same truck you have with FX4 and 4K towing package. I took the southern route thru PA to avoid all the trucks on the flatter NY route. Mileage averaged about 16-18mpg and I had no problems towing. Hardly noticed the trailer was back there unless I was going up a grade. I kept it between 60-65mph because of the drag that I did not feel, but I knew the truck did. No problems and no wear and tear that I could see. It is a great little truck.
I agree, I'm quite impressed by the capability of the Maverick It has the ability to do things that older generation f150 we're capable of but packaged in a small truck..I love mine

How close are those to the 4000 pounds? Looks like close to the limit.

If I need that much cargo hauled I’ll rent a U-Haul 27’ truck with the loading ramp and stand on the throttle all the way while enjoying the V-10’s power.
I got 12 mpg the last time I did this. And got to cruise with the big trucks safely at 75 mph.

No, I’ll not push my Little mini truck that hard. I like it too much.

In my not so humble opinion the Maverick is too small to safely haul and control the larger trailer in the event of an emergency situation.

I’ll not risk it when I can rent a big ass U-haul,
Load the thing and go.
With a Fully insured U-haul I can break something or crash at no real extra cost to me.
Wise advice.

In my opinion, the weak link in the Maverick's towing capability is the Intercooler. It is simply too small. I replaced mine with Buschur's within the first few hundred miles after I purchased my truck. I also upgraded my pads and rotors.

I was under the impression the Tremor is only good for 2K, did they change that?

Ya it is.. I added some airbags in the rear and I've never had any issues with it

People mis-use the word "limit".

Like those signs on the side of the road with numbers on them, there are only recommendations.

My hybrid has towed 7200 lbs. a short distance at low speed. She had more to give. No where near a "limit".

On the other hand, this 3,000 lbs at 70 mph is at a limit. The limit is when you push on the pedal and it won't go down any further. Everything else is just a recommendation.

Very true. And towing experience really helps in determining what is safe or approaching unsafe for the tow vehicle. I’ve owned and towed with heavy-duty diesel pickups, full-size gas pickups and now the Maverick. My EcoBoost had plenty more to give, as you say. But that wasn’t the point of the post. Rather, that the 4k tow package can safely tow the U-Haul 6x12 if you follow proper towing procedures and pay attention to your conditions. I wouldn’t have wanted to go any bigger or heavier, but as towed this trailer was safe.

I also should have mentioned to the group that I ran 93 octane the whole way while towing, aired up the rear tires +3 psi, had just changed the engine oil/filter prior to the trips and did the RDU and PTU fluid flushes at 5k (truck had 10,500 on it at start of towing trips.) So maintenance wise truck was fully prepped for the trip.

Overall, I wouldn’t hesitate to do this again. But each owner needs to assess their own comfortability and capability to do a trip like this.

So, let me get this straight.
Inadequate cooling, Inadequate Brakes, That’s not a weak link, that’s two of the main things you need besides power. That’s not enough truck for the bigger trailer.
In my not so humble Opinion.
Just saying, :’P
