After two years and 16,500 miles, I still really like my truck. Over the last 587 miles it has averaged 30.5 miles per gallon. It rides and handles like a champ. Out of the dozen or so trucks I have owned, this truck is the best. Even though I had ordered a hybrid, I think I really prefer the Ecoboost engine. I like the extra power with the turbo. My biggest complaint is the stop/start system. After disconnecting that feature I really enjoy driving this truck. I have been using full synthetic oil and having it changed every 6 months or 5,000 miles. The initial oil change was done around 1,500 miles. I have owned many Ford Rangers over the years and this Maverick is better than them all.

There is a wire running from the battery that can be unplugged. If you do it will disable the start/stop function. Just be aware that it also disables the battery management system.

I know the wire you are talking about. Did it cause any problems

No, it has not caused any problems other than a little light coming on the dash saying service needed since the computer knows the wire has been disconnected. Just press the ok button and the light goes off. The truck runs so much better now!

I'm perplexed. You disconnected the BMS wire so you wouldn't have to push the button to disable Auto stop each time but now you have to push OK each time. I think I will just use the bypass button and let the BMS do it's job. Glad you are liking it 2 years in. Today is 1 year for me with 7700 miles and I like this truck better than my 92 Ranger which I loved and kept for 13 years until 1 of my kids bought it from me then was T-boned with in 6 months and it was totaled.

I just find it disgusting that Ford required stop/start without an option to leave it turned off. It is the worst thing I have ever encountered on a new vehicle. The dash light that comes on does not have to be turned off. It is just annoying. Unfortunately, Ford used the same cable from the battery to control both the BMS and the stop/start system. I find it much easier to click the ok button than to remember to switch off the start/stop switch. And we all know that if you forget, the truck will shut off at every stop sign and stop light.

When I forget it only shuts off at the first red light. Then I remember to turn it off. Aggravating, yes. My Silverado I traded in let you turn it off and it remained off unless you turned it back on. In the grand scheme of things it's an annoyance.
