Wondering what im hearing when I cross a pot hole or speed bump and it is like a bounce that what make something bounce up and back in truck bed type sound...only from right rear side. Been like this since last June when bought new. Only has 6400 miles on it and nothing is in truck bed. This is my first truck so i'm not familiar with what it could be especially since the bed is empty..any ideas?

First off make a formal complaint with the dealer to get it on record. Then, maybe jack it up and take a look at everything and shake it hard by hand to find anything loose like a loose shock mount.

1. Make sure your spare tire is tight under the bed of the truck.
2. See if there is anything loose in the cubby in the bed on the right side.
3. Unless you're absolutely confident it is outside the cab, also look behind the rear seat (and under it) to see if the jack or something else might be loose.

Good day

After reading your description of your problem my first thought was that you should go out to your truck and throw down a nice thick piece of cardboard, a comfy creeper or maybe a couple of those exercise matts/pads (they are super comfy, and anyone can be uncomfortable) and shake your spare tire!

It sounds like maybe the tire is not pulled up tight enough.

Maybe the tire isn't properly seated with the tire flattener teeth inside the treads.

If the tire and rim isn't loose at all, check around for other things that could be improperly secured.

If possible, have a chunky buddy jump up and down on the bumper (with you positioned safely) to see if you can see/hear the bounce you are noticing, we are just hoping to localize it.

I hope it is something simple, but if no luck then you might need to bring it in, if you feel you need to sort this out.

I know I am a curious person and like trying to figure these things out myself, where possible.

Good luck and let us know if you figure this out, it can possibly help us in the future if it comes up again.

Andy

Those are great ideas! I will try that..I'll let you all know if that hopefully solves the issue 😄

If it was drivers side I'd say maybe the fuel door emergency release cable slapping.

That’s a great idea on a hybrid, but OP has a Ecoboost, and we don’t get the “locking” fuel door.

Hmmm…Unfortunately I just had a flat tire and had to use the “donut” spare. Since I was in a hurry I really didn’t notice the spare positioning. Good news…the tire was easily plugged and I’m back on the road w 4 round tires. But if some kind soul here could take a pic of the spare in it’s proper position that would be awesome!

Thanks!

Good day

I originally went out to get a photo for you, but until I threw down my exercise mat at the back of my truck and lay down to look...and then I saw I have my spare strapped down in the box for winter!

So, I then checked out my manual and took 2 screenshot, hoping it will help you with the positioning.

The pic shows that the tire inflation valve should be pointing downwards once cranked up into position.

You do need to wiggle the tire a bit as it goes up so that the tire-flattener teeth are in the crack between the treads (part of the trucks crash protection design.

I hope this helps,

Andy

Our brand new 2026 makes a squish sound whenever we hit a bump. It sounds like it could be a strut. I was thinking this doesn’t sound normal. Does anyone else notice this weird sound on their Maverick or should I have it checked out?

I went to dealer for first oil change and they looked for anything out of the ordinary and said nothing was visible as not being right. However. Im going to try securing spare in case not seated right and cubby in back for any thing unforgotten loose items and under rear seats ...all suggested by the awsome chat group on this page😄. If that checking for any loose improperly seated things comes up empty..I will take it to dealer. Haven't tried yet but I feel it probably is the spare tire as it sounds pretty solid and substantial of a noise. Good luck. Will follow up if noise leaves.
