Noticed there's a very different vibe over at Ranger6G with a lot of folks doing some very expensive mods and this guy in the link seems to have a whole fleet of Raptors. Reminds me of when I drove Tacomas in years past and was on the customtacos.com site where some folks went to the extreme customizing their rides. I won't be doing anything like that myself but it's fun to watch. I'm guessing that V8 Ranger will be quite a bit of fun when it's finished.

Main reason we went with Maverick over Ranger was size of garage. With a newer Ranger or Tacoma there wouldn’t have been room to get around the front or back of the truck. Plus my days of pulling stuff are over. Love our Mav.

I think the 2025 AWD XLT Maverick with the 4K Tow Package and 2.0 EB would have been a better choice in the long run for You Mileage wise and would have been fine for Your Off Road Driving and trailer towing. But I hope You enjoy the Ranger.

Agree, mileage-wise it would have been better. Cost to run was a factor but not a huge one. I thought about an F-150 but decided against it for several reasons besides MPG, one of them being size and the Ranger feels like the right balance. In a couple years I can get a bigger trailer if I want with the Ranger's 7500lb tow capacity, although I would never get anything that heavy. As much as I liked the Maverick part of it was just being ready for something different so for the same price I went with the Ranger.

Loved my FWD hybrid Maverick but I'm buying a small travel trailer. The trailer I'm picking up next week is within the limits of the 2K towing capacity but while driving from a trailhead up a twisty gravel road in the Mav recently I hit some steep turns and the front wheels started slipping badly. A couple times I almost came to a complete stop and barely made it out of there, simply due to loss of traction on the loose gravel. At one point I thought I was going to have to back down to a place I could turn around, then back up the hill so the weight would be on the drive wheels. Luckily the hill started to level off and I made it up the rest of the way but if I'd been towing a trailer there's no way I'd have made it so I realized then that I needed to go back to a 4WD.

Checking with the well-respected local Ford dealer where I bought the Mav there were a couple 4K, AWD, Ecoboost XLT Mavericks on the lot and a handful of Rangers. One of the Mavs was a leftover 2025 marked down $3K in the same Space White Metallic I had, one of the Rangers was a leftover 2025 LX SXT 4x4 marked down $3K in Carbonized Grey Metallic. Both ended up being slightly above $36K. Already knowing the Maverick would have been a good choice and having never been in a Ranger, I took the Ranger for a drive first.

Off the bat - sits up higher, stiffer ride, nicer interior, more comfortable seats, 2.3L EB rocks, 10-spd works well, noticeably quieter. Outside - looks great, bigger bed, over 9" ground clearance. Loved it! After the drive the dealer worked a slightly better deal, gave me a good trade and now it's mine. Driving around late yesterday the computer showed 25mpg city/highway combined so not too bad just off the lot.

Will definitely miss the Mavericks compact size and averaging over 36mpg but I've got a '24 Corolla Cross hybrid AWD for when I want better mpg. The trailer I'm getting has extra high ground clearance with a heavy-duty axle + off-road tires and the Ranger will be great for towing it back into rough country.

It's snowing hard here in SC this morning and the Ranger is in the garage - so I can go over everything today, put my crap in it, etc so no pictures but here's a stock photo that looks just like it. It's been nice interacting with you here on the forum. You've been helpful, informative and downright enjoyable. Thanks to all and maybe I'll see you somewhere down the road.

I think you made a wise decision going for the Ranger. The Maverick did what you wanted it to do at the time you bought it. When it was time to get a more useable vehicle for towing, you got top return for you Mavericks resale value on the trade in. Enjoy camping, off roading etc, with the Ranger, and there will be a furture Maverick for you when it's time to down grade if you need to.

Very smart of you to get an appropriate tow vehicle for the trailer, you will be a much happier camper.
Oddly enough I'm in the same situation. Have a 2015 19' Ascent travel trailer GVW is 4,700, well over the Maverick 4,000 Lb capability. But, I have a 2024 XLT hybrid 2wdr which only has the 2,000 pound rating. Thinking about a 2026 factory order Ranger XLT 2.7 with the 7,500 rating and retiring my 2008 GMC denali and it's 13 mpg. The truck tester folks on you tube did a towing test of the 2.7 Ranger and really liked it. Love the Maverick and it's 40 mpg will certainly miss it. A bit of advice for new to Maverick prospective buyers; if you live in a colder climate do not skip the heated seats with the hybrid! On shorter in town trips the IC engine does not run enough to heat the cabin.

Happy trails! While waiting four months for my three day old maverick to be repaired, I climbed into a V6 powered Ranger and marveled at the leg room and comfort. I damned near traded that day. I just could not justify buying three new vehicles in under a year, so I drove my F-350 until the Maverick was almost repaired last June. Apparently, Ford techs don't know how to replace coolant in a Maverick hybrid, so it wasn't correctly repaired until May.

It's been a good truck and tows just fine. With AWD it only slips a tiny bit in this winter storm. It was getting 30+mpg yesterday in 14° with occasional ice patches on the road. I've hauled and towed full capacity without any issues.

Pretty happy with the Ranger on day 3 of ownership. ;-) We had 6" of snow here in SC yesterday and as expected, the Ranger's 4x4 shined. It'll be nice to have while towing the trailer up gravel roads too. Agree with you that the 2.7L is a good choice for that size trailer.

Wow, having to wait that long for what sounds like a simple issue has got to be frustrating. Yeah, after driving the Maverick over to the dealer to step into the Ranger seemed like a pretty big upgrade. Since the 4K Mav and the Ranger were the same price I knew within 5 minutes I'd be buying it if they offered the right deal. Maybe since I was a repeat customer they treated me better than I expected.
