Greetings...I am new on here. Picked up my '26 Lobo High, 2.0 Ecoboost
in Velocity Blue on Jan. 3rd. Glad I found this Forum since there is a whole bunch of good info. here. Mine came with the spare tire, won't have any vehicle without that. I have coming, Ford mud guards and the tri fold tonneau cover. Cleans up the look.

I just ordered some Maxzima items from Amazon.
1. Console organizer. 2. Glove box organizer. 3. Under hood drain plugs. 4. Door sill inner and outer protectors. 5. Tailgate hole cover.

I'm looking at other "possibles" but this should be good for now. I am retired and the bed won't get much use, and no "work truck" type use for sure. I've owned MANY different kinds of cool and fun vehicles. This Lobo seemed like it would be something a little different that what I've been buying.
Yrs. ago I did own 2 Rangers. One was a 4.0 V6 extra cab bought new, and a more base model with the 2.9 V6 with a 5 speed stick. And I've owned 12 Mustangs, all GT's, including 2 Cobra versions and a Saleen SSC.

Cars, suv's and now a truck are my fun and enjoyment. I know many "younger people" love all black wheels. Well, I don't and have never had black wheels on any vehicle. So, my dealers GSM who I dealt with exclusively, said he'd swap the Lobo black spoke wheels for the brushed frontal wheels off a new Lariat! Including tires. The wheels are the same as the black no cost option ones for the Lariat, so he had no problem doing it. No cost, no charge. Made me happy. So, I am driving a rare Lobo with "non Lobo wheels!" LOL!! We all have our preferences.

Thanks to everyone on here. I hope to learn more about this Maverick, beyond what I already know, and I hope I can contribute and be of help to someone or a few on here.
Congrats! Enjoy your High trim Lobo. I get complements on mine.

I tried another accessory this week, and it was a complete failure!

Truck Bed Side Wall Tie Down Anchors: https://amzn.to/3LbSenv

I should have known because it's really for a Chevy Silverado, but with a little filing or grinding, it fits in the Maverick's bed rail.
Ford Maverick UPDATE: What are the go-to accessories for my 2026 Maverick? IMG_3489

The problem lies in the bolt they supplied. It's a 14mm bolt, and there is only 26mm of clearance for a wrench.

Ford Maverick UPDATE: What are the go-to accessories for my 2026 Maverick? IMG_3487

I ended up using pliers to tighten the bolt. This is not a good solution because I can't get it tight enough to be comfortable. I know this thing is just going to come loose, and there goes whatever it is holding.
Ford Maverick UPDATE: What are the go-to accessories for my 2026 Maverick? IMG_3486

I saw on the forum that someone was using these, so I decided to give them a try. However, after this major safety concern, I DO NOT suggest investing in this.

Hope this helps someone.

Note: Because I gound down one of them, I am not going to return them to Amazon. I just don't feel right because I used them on a "unsupported" platorm. It's not the seller fault, but the safty concern is still there.

Here is the current list of accessories, with my take on each one.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Items

  • Center Console Organizer: https://amzn.to/49hJbsS
Great organizer, no vibration, and provides three levels of storage. You can't store anything large in the center console with the trays, so keep that in mind.

  • Glove Box Organizer: https://amzn.to/3LfJzjG
Much Better than I thought. No vibration and fits well.
Have on hand and review coming:
  • Mabett Rear Bumper Cover Plate: https://amzn.to/4sGv4qj
After seeing this one, I now notice how unfinished the back looks. I may invest in this one on the next round.

  • Truck Bed Cargo Net: https://amzn.to/49gXbDd
I have not installed it yet. (review soon)

  • Home made 3d printed solution for bed rail tiedowns.
I got some 8mm eye hooks and will use the backing from the failed Silverado anchors.

⭐ Items STAY AWAY FROM!
  • Truck Bed Side Wall Tie Down Anchors for 2007-2023 Chevy Silverado: https://amzn.to/4sAxCpB
Hard no, there is no way to tighten them safely.

On the fence about:
  • Visor Rain Guards: https://amzn.to/4js1mAY
Don't know if I need this; there's not much rain here in Vegas.

  • Mabett Seat Covers: https://amzn.to/3N697QY
These are a good one to keep on the list if I ever need them. They look pretty nice.

  • Screen Protector for 2025 2026: https://amzn.to/4aEQYnb
I am not a big screen protector guy, but I can see where this would have value.

  • Ford Maverick Center Console Organizer Drink Holder: https://amzn.to/4pl3xaQ
I see the appeal of this one; it makes it easier to keep the cup holes clean.

  • Door Side Storage Tray: https://amzn.to/3YnCMro
This one looks good, too, to make it easier to clean out the door cubbies.

  • Door Sill Protector: https://amzn.to/4pYmxgq
I have never had an issue with my door sills becoming damaged. But I can see where it might be useful.

  • Hood Water Barrier: https://amzn.to/4qfgZ1d
This solves a problem I did not know I had. I may look into these.

  • Tailgate Hole Cover: https://amzn.to/49pJ9zn
I read about this one on the forums. Is it really a problem?

  • Tailgate Lift Assist: https://amzn.to/3YHvtLn
I am on the fence on this one. I see this one getting in the way, and the tailgate is not that heavy. But to protect small fingers, it may be worth it.

Hood struts for sure. Now, I read somewhere here that the hood was basically too flimsy,
aluminum, etc, and hood struts would be a problem??
I have put many hood struts on my past Mustangs until Ford FINALLY put them on as OEM not
long ago.

I always used Redline Tuning struts....never an issue. Mustang hoods....aluminum.
The Maverick hood is not so "weak or flimsy."

I ordered struts from Redline Tuning. I'm sure they will be perfect. Certainly better than the
damn "prop rods!" Mustang owners complained about the rods for years. The struts also allow
the hood to open farther than the rod allows...another plus.

The problems some folks have had with their Maverick aftermarket struts is with the double latch release in the cab - not with the hood itself.

Seems the struts affect the release tension on the cable causing it to disconnect. Several YouTube vids show some workarounds - just fyi.

Hmmm...seems kinda strange. When the struts are all the way down there is no tension
on the hood and thus should not be on the cable operating the latch system.
I could be wrong....I'll look at You Tube. They are not necessarily a "for sure" place to
go for correct info....but, possibly. I wonder IF it was talking specifically about Red Line Tuning
struts? There are some "bad ones" that are not so good.

OK, I watched the vid the guy shows "his issue." I saw a response by someone who watched
the video, and they said...they don't have struts and had the exact same latch issue.

Seems like the tube with the cable, which can be seen with that side panel removed, Ford didn't
allow for that tube/cable to remain securely in it's guide slot and thus can "move out of position"
thus causing the problem. IF that tube/cable had nowhere to go, then...."no issue."

To me that is where the "fix" needs to happen. Can fairly easily be done to keep that cable from
ever slipping out of position.

Also, 2 others had the same perspective about "pressure forward on the hood." They see it as
pressure moving against the hood to the rear.

But, I don't believe there is much if any pressure when the strut is fully collapsed. I'd fix the "problem" as mentioned above.

ALSO: I just read the resources of what products this guy bought on the "credits" he included.
Those struts of his....I wouldn't buy if someone paid me! They were a damn cheap set on Amazon
for....$34.99!!! JUNK.

NOW...I do believe he has a "strut issue of some kind"....BUT, again, as I wrote above, the real
issue is that cable tube is "allowed" to move out of it's position with nothing there to hold it
where it belongs, and thus those without struts can have the same problem with the hood
latch system.

Just so folks on here know...reading all this....I was a "Master Tech" in the A.F. and I taught in a
Technical Trade School for 5 years, so, I do have enough mechanical knowledge and ability
to work through issues. Also, I have worked with Mechanical Design Engineers helping them
with "issues" I and my fellow Technicians and Service Trainers told them what was working
and what wasn't. I do have some creds here to be able to research, evaluate, and try and
figure out what makes sense and what doesn't.

Thanks Much!

Thanks for the FYI. Helped me get to the bottom of this issue. So, Chops, from one Gary to
another Gary....LOL...you just didn't go deep enough to analyze the entire problem and causes.
That's OK....I'm here to help...IF I CAN....and share what I am able to help others with.
I'm not always right for sure....but, do have plenty of background and abilities to help when I
feel like I can.

The bumper cover is a very nice addition to my 2026 Maverick: https://amzn.to/4sGv4qj

I really didn't know I wanted it until I went back out and noticed how unfinished it looked right out of the factory. This cover plate finishes the hitch area and bumper very nicely.
Ford Maverick UPDATE: What are the go-to accessories for my 2026 Maverick? IMG_0772

It was very easy and straightforward to install. Just undo 2 screws on the bumper, fit the cover, and replace the same screws. The only "difficult" part was getting it between the hitch frame and the chain eye holes. I did end up scratching it a bit. You may want to apply masking tape to the cover plate before installation to protect it.

Ford Maverick UPDATE: What are the go-to accessories for my 2026 Maverick? IMG_0774

As far as functionality and protection go. It fit like it was made to go there. And I don't think it will protect anything, but it should be durable enough to last as long as I keep the Maverick.

Overall, I am happy with the purchase and would recommend it to any dentist who chews sugarless gum.

While I don’t have your impressive credentials - I was a simple bicycle mechanic for 20 years and can explain what is happening here…

First as a rule, never force a stuck cable - brake or derailleur. The weakest part of the mechanism will give or worse yet break…

If you look inside the latch mechanism under your hood you will see what looks like a bicycle cable connected to a steel plate. Some beefy springs & a big plastic latch pawl to control the wonderful two stage hood release. It’s so nice not to have to reach under the hood to feel for a hidden latch release! But back on topic…

So, what is causing the latch release in the cab to “stick” & leading some to pull harder - and unseat the cable?

It is because the latch loop on the hood is not aligned with the latch mechanism down below.

This misaligned hood can come from the factory (sucks) or from misaligning the hood after installing aftermarket struts. The quality of the strut is not important really - it is the careful alignment of the hood if it was loosened during strut install.

So what should you do if the latch release feels stuck? Don’t force it! Have someone “wriggle” the hood left & right as you try to lift latch.

You will then need to realign the hood a bit - or maybe the latch on the hood can be adjusted? See pics…

The tailgate hole cover would not be a problem if you never carry small things that WILL fall into it when you are loading and unloading. Let's take a leaky bag of gravel, or small yard cleanup bits. Once the objects fall into the hole, you can't get them out. So for a few bucks, save yourself aggravation.
I've had many pickups but never one with a hole here and I use trucks to haul things around.

The tailgate lift assist has nothing to do with "lifting". It simply softens how the tailgate falls as it lowers. Does it bother you when someday slams your doors? Bugs me. Same for someone else dropping the gate. But if hearing a bang doesn't bother you, I guess you can pass.

You will then need to realign the hood a bit - or maybe the latch on the hood can be adjusted? See pics…

Hi Chops...Happy Sunday! I can see where you have offered "a possible fix" but, I do not
think it's the ONLY one that is causing everyone's problem. I think there are those other causes
mentioned by me and the video on You Tube. Apparently, and doesn't surprise me, that there seems to be more than one possible "Ooops" on the part of Ford.

Did you watch that video with the interior "access panel" removed to view the tube/cable and
how it can easily slip out of where the "guide slot" is located?? When he found and fixed that
he no longer had issues. So, you see, there are other problems causing the issue, and different
ways of fixing them.

And, just so you know...since I have played with hood struts..mostly Redline Tuning, BUT, have in
my earlier trials used a couple other manufacturers struts. They are NOT all the same...trust me
on that. Redline Tuning products are made in the U.S. and they beg, borrow, buy, steal...no!...
vehicles to get proper fit and to tune the strut for that particular hood. That's why I have stayed with Redline Tuning.

I was always fully aware of "possible hood shift" when one bolt was removed from the hinge
bracket many times over. NEVER has a hood "moved" from just one nut, out of 3, caused the
hood to move. Never an issue for me. Could it....yeah possibly....but, the world could end tomorrow....possibly, too.

Also...just a note. The 2 hood "rubber stoppers" that can be adjusted for a lopsided hood, or up to high or too low...so they can be screwed down or brought up. So, that might help the latching
issue too.

So, lots of things for others to look at if and when they have this issue. My first trouble shooting...if needed after I install the Redline Struts, is to see IF I will have any issues. IF I do with the latch issue, the first place I'm checking is inside that access panel and look at that tube/cable guide
slot. IF cable is out of it, I will probably use the "tried and true" everyone's "fix it" tool....gray duct tape!! Cut in to strips and wrap around that slotted guide so there is no way the tube/cable can
slide out. IF that's not the fix...I'll move on to some of the other suggestions.

Gary...we could go on about this forever....or not....LOL!....but, I think we gave everyone "possible fixes" for this issue. Let's call it well done by both of us.....we good??

Cool that we both are "Gary's" and have VB Lobo's! I really like this blue, and I'm normally NOT a
blue painted car guy. This one works for me.

My Conti DWS 06 Plus tires are here. I've installed the console organizer...nice, the glove box one...nice also, the drain screens under hood...not bad...Ford put a flap there..???, and the tailgate
slot hole opening cover. May not be necessary for me, but, what the heck it was inexpensive. And who knows, the next owner of this truck might appreciate it, need it, more than me.

Left to do: Door sill protectors, mount new tires, change out eng. oil to Mobil 1, and apply the liquid
"stuff" to try and protect the plastic interior areas.
OH....forgot about my tri fold hard tonneau cover and mudguards to install. Got to pick them up
at my dealer. I THINK that will do it. One never knows.
We had a 10" snow dump couple days ago....has slowed things down a lot around the city, etc.

Take the Best of Care!!
