What exactly did you expect after rubbing their noses in it? It's not just the dealer making money on the warranty, the guy you mocked earns commission.
Not all dealers are like that. I showed the Granger numbers to the finance manager at my local dealership and he said the numbers were under his cost so he could not match it - simple statement, no attitude. I also financed the Maverick with my credit union. Actually spent less than 10 minutes with him.

One factor to consider if you get into an accident that totals your Mav before the extended warrantee kicks in, it'll be money wasted (outside peace of mind). Despite that, I went with Granger, too.

I second Granger Ford Pricing. When I went to the dealer to pick up my Lariat they quoted me more than double Granger. When I said I was going with Granger they got all Pissy, and the rest of the experience in the finance office was curt at best.
I wonder how they'll act if/when you ask them to honor that warranty?

I think you can get a refund on the remaining part of the policy. Check with Ford.

I told him if he wanted to match the price, I was willing to give them the business as they were local. If they were not willing to be competitive that is on them.

Good on you, I did the same thing for my local dealer where I have purchased over 10 vehicles, they gave me a 10% “loyalty “ discount and were still $900 more than the same plan thrift anger who I have never bought a vehicle.
The decision was easy.

It's a Ford warranty not an aftermarket. I am happy to contact Ford if there is issues.
Right. Most owners would do the same.

What I was getting at is that it's an unnecessary hassle. No one wants to fight with a dealership and spend hours communicating with Ford Customer Relations over what should be a straight-forward business transaction.

Even if the customer "wins" they've still lost.

I don't buy extended warranties (they're betting against the house) but if I did, I'd expect a *Ford* warranty to be accepted by all Ford dealers. If a dealer is in the habit of refusing, Ford should give them one warning and then yank their franchise.

Well, to be fair, IDK how their agreement is written. It should state that all Ford dealers MUST honor all Ford warranties. If it doesn't, that needs to be changed.

At a minimum, all Ford extended warranties should have: "This warranty may not be honored by all Ford dealerships" in large red font at the opt of each page.

Dealers love to bring up "loyalty" but their idea of loyalty is often a one-way street -- as you experienced.

I've run into the "loyalty" issue when attempting to have warranty repairs done at a dealer that did not sell me the vehicle. "Well, maybe if you were a "loyal customer" we could help you out, but since you aren't, you can pound sand! Take it back where you bought it."

"Loyalty" typically means that if a customer buys several cars from that dealer at inflated prices -- spending thousands more than necessary, they might get a couple free oil changes, or maybe a loaner car.

Granger makes.....$50 per transaction.
And all the money you paid for that warranty if you don’t ever use it. Most won’t use it.

Again it’s cheap insurance.

Yeah they got pissed because you’re smarter than they were. You saw the rip off and did not fall for it.
It’s obvious their reaction was not professional.

No, Ford will realize that profit. Granger may recognize it as revenue but it’s all but offset by the expense to Ford except $50 if you are to believe they sell at cost plus $50.

Correct. You just have to send whichever dealer you purchased the plan from proof of the vehicle being totaled for a prorated refund.
