Last month when our first snow storm came through, the glass on my 2023 Maverick cracked from one side all the way to to the other. It looked like it was caused by the tiniest, pinhead sized, chip which was barely visible prior to the crack. $%?!#

On December 3, I had the glass replaced at a local auto glass dealer. This truck is primarily a weekend driver for me and this Saturday I noticed water was leaking down through the top of the glass, onto the dashboard.

I've got an appointment with the glass shop today, but I was wondering if there is supposed to be a piece of trim that sits in the gap between the glass and the roof. I'd appreciate it if one of you could look at your Maverick to verify whether the same gap exists on your vehicle, or if something is there to keep rain out of that gap.

See photo below. If you look carefully, you can see the black sealant does not appear straight.

I have four vehicles in my driveway and the three Fords all have said gap. Only the Honda has trim there.

Yeah, all Mavericks come with the top of the glass exposed like that. It’s a pain to get that area clean.
I use a brush, cleans it like new every time.

I can't say that trash getting in the gap has been a problem for me.

Your gap looks slightly bigger than mine though - wondering if they placed the windshield where it's supposed to be.

I supposed the front camera area with dark area on glass kind of dictates how low it should go.

Might peek at that, just in case they can improve it 2nd time around.

Let us know if they have some universal edge guard they suggest that would work well.
Not for leak - they need to redo their bad job.

Fill the gap with a flexible black silicone.
should cost about $14 for a tube that would do a half dozen windshields.
Easy peasy.
Might have to peel it out and re-caulk if every three or four years.

Old man's remedy of choice. Silicone Caulk😆

Just a thought.
I wonder if a windshield installer would end up charging an extra fee to remove the installed silicone caulk?
Kind of like a mechanic who charges an extra fee to remove the foam cover off the top of an engine.

Damn Skippy !
These younguns don’t know shit.

When all the Boomers die out, likely next year.
The Gen X’ers will start to retire in mass .

Ten years later you younguns won’t know how to fix shit.

Just keep chasing those degrees in social science and the arts.

For me it's green slime from the wet Pacific north west weather. It gets into all the hard to clean spots, like around the back window, along the bottom of the side windows at the gaskets, behind the door handles, water drains etc.

I don't use car washes, or pressure washers on my truck, only hand wash.

Hey! There!! :cautious:

Just because I turn "66" tomorrow....
Doesn't mean the end is near..
Even though, that makes ME at the Tail-End of the "Boomer" train..
