X2 and the Chevelle doesn't have those things and was probably spinning the tires. On the other had the AWD Eco Boost Mavericks run as fast as 14.5@95 mph in the 1/4 mile which is as fast or faster than some of the old Muscle Cars and would probably give a 396 Chevelle a run for its money.
My first car was a 350 Nova custom. Majority of the weight is on the front axel. It was good for putting on a show smoking the tires or whipping donuts. Handling was horrible. Keeping it out of the ditches on anything but perfect dry pavement took a lot of effort. EB Maverick has more muscle than the majority of muscle era cars.

According to zeroto60times.com, Fastest recorded 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 had a 5.7 second 0-60 time.

AI query found at least one Maverick XLT doing a 5.9. Take AI result with grain of salt.

However, it is completely believable. Especially given modern traction control, the plastic body, and improvements in engine technology.

Muscle cars were good at spinning their wheels, which results in little forward momentum..
Back in the day I used to drive a 82 Subaru 4WD wagon with wide tires.

It was fun to pull up at a light beside a Porsche in the rain and rev the engine.
In 4wd, I could take off and the Porshe would just sit and spin...

Of course once it hooked up the boxer would fly by.

Correct about our old performance buggies. My 1970 Dodge Charger 440 R/T, 375 HP, 3,800 lbs heavy. 0-60 in 6.1 seconds, top speed 132, and quarter mile 14.1 Not great, but got me a few trophies! Ran it all stock at NHRA strip. I was getting performance very close to the factory specs. Here is a nice web page, where you can look up about any spec on about any car. I use it all the time. It is set on my Charger page, just hit Home button.

My muscle car back in the day was a 1968 Dodge charger ,4 spd manual trans and 383 magnum engine .just stock. I thought it was fast till my friend let me test out his charger with 440 sixpack .My 77 corvette with L82 engine was pretty fast but more of a sports car than a muscle car.

I enjoy driving my 22 2.0t, it's very quick of the lights. I'm 60 and my wife of 33yrs won't drive in it with me because she says I drive to fast.
Now that I bought a Mav, it looks like my love life will improve!

I own a 1970 Mustang Mach 1 with a 351 Cleveland 4 barrel and a 4 speed top loader. I also own a 2024 Maverick 2.0. I get challenged just about every time I take the Mach 1 out. I play with them a little but always lose. On Purpose. It's not worth it to me to blow a gasket or worse. Looks like I'd be a disappointment to your girl friend. Apparently in more ways than one.
I had a 1969 Mach 1 as well with the 351 Windsor motor though. I also had a 1965 Mustang fastback with the K-code 289, 271 HP.

Not my first Pony. The last Mustang restoration I did and eventually sold, was a 66 Candy Apple Red with a white convertible top. 289. Nothing special HiPo wise but I really cut my teeth on working with that thing. 289 engines were really easy to work on. I completely rebuilt it. Having never done that before, I was surprised when it started right up and always ran perfectly. Hope I never have to rear into the Mav EcoBoost though. I'm confused just looking at it sometimes.

... I have found myself nudging that 100 mph mark easily while cruising on freeway, keeping up with traffic and passing then looking down to see I’m clipping along at 95-100
The American Medical Association has determined that there is a cure for LFDS (Lead Foot Disorder Syndrome) a.k.a. "Lead Foot" .
It's called by the generic name of "the cruise control".

Side effect sometime include the feeling of being left behind, or feelings of euphoria when the guy who had been tailgating you and passed you is pulled over up ahead for felony speed....

Yes I love those 60's Mustangs. I'd like to get another one someday. The 289 was a great engine for a light car and easy to we work on. I once changed the water pump on my 65 right on the side of a street in Milwaukee.
