Did My eco boost Maverick really beat that hot rod Chevelle SS ?

The Tremor is oddly quick, I wonder if its the shorter final drive ratio helping it out. Or it just has better torque management. I beat a 05-09 Mustang GT, so its not implausible you beat a Chevelle if it was all stock. They arent that slow but traction with a 454 big block can be a problem.

Unfortunately - nostalgia is one hell of a drug. Those Chevelle SS from the factory were barely pulling low 7s 0-60 and that was with an experienced driver.

So hell yeah - your Ecoboost Maverick that runs 0-60 in low 6s is totally going to dust that Chevelle, and you did.

Correct about our old performance buggies. My 1970 Dodge Charger 440 R/T, 375 HP, 3,800 lbs heavy. 0-60 in 6.1 seconds, top speed 132, and quarter mile 14.1 Not great, but got me a few trophies! Ran it all stock at NHRA strip. I was getting performance very close to the factory specs. Here is a nice web page, where you can look up about any spec on about any car. I use it all the time. Could not find these in the owner's manual where they showed the little funnel you need to use if you run out of gas.

Traction control + AWD does a lot of work for getting power to the pavement.

X2 and the Chevelle doesn't have those things and was probably spinning the tires.On the other had the AWD Eco Boost Mavericks run as fast as 14.5@95 mph in the 1/4 mile which is as fast or faster than some of the old Muscle Cars and would probably give a 396 Chevelle a run for its money.

Yeah , if you look at 0-60 times from the muscle car era you'll find that they were not faster than most any modern mainstream vehicle....
But I sure enjoyed spinning my tires all the way through first gear , and then slamming 2nd when I was a young man .Hooker headers , Cherry Bomb mufflers , Hurst shifter , G-60 rear tires .....

The good old days weren't quite as good as we like to remember. The fast cars of the 60's are only moderately fast by today's standards.

Also, there are a lot of fakes out there. GTOs that are just LeMans pretending to be a GTO and the like.

Yeah I knew guys putting fake SS stickers on Chevelles with 350 engines ,but it still sounded like it was running a hot cam.

There I was sitting at a red light beside a 1970 type Chevelle SS , it sounded so hot with the engine rumbling with its racing cam ,loud exhaust and wide rear tires . the light turned red and my girlfriend said lets race him . I said ok ( I'm 78 years old) and floorboarded my Maverick . He saw me coming and did the same. To my amazement I passed him and his car was sounding like he was going flat out. At the next light about half a kilometer away he pulled up beside me and gave the thumbs up. We had been going around 160 kph ,about 100 mph . Does this little eco boost truck really have that much punch ??
My girlfriend is 38 years old and keeps me thinking I'm still a kid. My truck is a 2023 Lariat Tremor . Should I sign up for the local races ?
I wonder if I can smoke my tires . The chevelle guy was a length ahead when my girl said lets race him, so I wasn't at a standing start.

I'm in Calgary Canada, that's why the kilometers , I still convert mentally since before 1978 we were on gallons and miles too .

I had a '57 Chev Bel Air with a 350 Vette motor, 3/4 race cams, and a double pumper Holly carb on an Edelbrock manifold. The Borg Warner Turbo Hydro tranny it was connected to would burn rubber in all 4 gears. The car was a lot of fun on he newly opened freeway segment that no one used for a few months until it was actually connected to get somewhere.

The car was great in a straight line. It would stuff you back in the seat. Turning... not so much.

In my case though, the car was a total stock looking sleeper. It was even quiet, exhaust wise, except for the loping idle which gave it away at a light..

Don't know what was done to the chevelle, but if it was stock the mav is quicker. Iam sure the chevelle was modded some. I have a cuda 340 and I think my wife's mav is quicker. And I thought I was robbing the cradle with my wife being 15 years younger!

I have heard installing Pedal Commander will give you some additional snappiness in the different, modes , my 2024 AWD xl is plenty quick for me , and I have found myself nudging that 100 mph mark easily while cruising on freeway, keeping up with traffic and passing then looking down to see I’m clipping along at 95-100
