I have seen multiple people use Zep purple industrial degreaser to imitate the look of the black appearance Package tail lights however I don’t want to switch to LEDs because I don’t want to deal with the hyper blinking, I wanna know if this is safe to do with the stock, halogen lights, if possible I’d like some pictures of your results otherwise I will be doing my third brake light just to make sure it’s safe

It should be fine as long as you don't remove the chrome from the internal reflectors. You only want to remove the chrome surrounding the reflectors.

Dont mess with ZEP, you will remove all of the reflective chrome from the housings and all the lights will be considerably dimmer. I just got these one from Amazon, they are the Lariat (knockoffs) and they come with a harness for the XL, XLT's. Pricey? Yeah, but they are safer than the modded ones.

It is very har do keep the reflective stuff when doing the ZEP mod. The reflectirs are nit only on the reverse light section but on the brake/turn signal sections as well.
I'm aware of where the chrome is. I didn't say it was easy, I said it works if you do it right. I think we've given enough warning for the OP to understand that, but I'm not going to automatically assume that he doesn't have the required abilities. That is for him to decide after reading the information provided.

This may or may not sway you but the hyperflash is only in the cluster icon, on the outside the actual bulb blinks normally.

I replaced all my bulbs with non-resistor led bulbs and used forscan to disable the hyperflash.

The zep eats away the chrome coating, including the coating on the reflectors for the bulbs, may not be an issue with LED bulbs since they are much brighter, but I would be reluctant to do that and stick with the halogen bulbs.

I believe this is now the third warning the OP has received in this thread about this. There is a link above that shows how to do this without removing the chrome from the reflectors.

this seems like a much better method than the one I saw on YouTube that I never would’ve found lol I think that I could safely do this one. There’s a similar mod. I did on my old car, but it was just cleaning out the headlights and making them look really shiny so maybe I could do this I think this looks much safer and also a new pair of tail lights is like $140 on Amazon so worst case scenario I mess it up and just get those lol
