Reading this forum or something like r/FordMaverickTruck, it's easy to get the impression that everyone sprung for the 4K Tow Package, or that every Maverick is black, grey or white. Here the state of New York's open data site, which makes available all current registrations, including their VIN numbers, gives us a reasonable representation beyond New York.

From this we can see the distribution of Maveicks equipped with the 4K tow package or not, Ecoboost vs Hybrid engines, other packages, and paint color.

Lots of good stuff here! Have not yet looked at it detail, but I would caution that N.Y. buyers might purchase a higher percent of EBs thru 24 because of more need for AWD and hybrid efficiency decrease due to lower temps than in other parts of the country.

Thanks for the info!

Excellent point!

If anyone else knows of VIN level detail available from their state's DMV or other sources, I'd love to expand the analysis.

I wonder if any other states offer granular data like this? I'd be very interested to see the EcoBoost vs hybrid data in different parts of the country. I feel like I see a lot of hybrids in my area; which makes sense given that gas prices are usually about the 3rd highest in the country in Oregon. I paid $3.87/gal to fill up with regular yesterday.

I'd wager a guess that EcoBoost/AWD Maverick's do better in areas with routine inclement weather and hybrids do better in places with more temperate weather but higher gas prices. Now that the refreshed models (2025 and beyond) offer AWD and hybrid capabilities, I feel we'd start to see EcoBoost sales decline.

Hybrids went from 37 to 66 percent of the Lariats from 24 to 25. 4k towing went up quite a bit also, in fact, it doubled. Guessing that was due to AWD availability in the 25 hybrid.

I am a Hokie!

RTP = Research Triangle Park, NC. Been here since the early 90s. It's hub of telecommunications companies (that's me), biotech (very much not me).

Yep just like I thought, The Ecoboost out sells the Hybrid by a bunch, mostly Ecoboost’s are being sold up here.

The three I’ve talked to locally that switched from 2022 hybrids to 2023 and 2024 Ecoboosts. Two of the three said basically the same thing. Switched because of problems and not so great fuel mileage in the winter.
The last guy, country boy said, ā€œI’m always punching it up the hills and getting great mileage means I got to drive like grandpa, not happening.ā€
He wears a mullet, so what can I say ?

ā€œI Can’t Drive 55ā€

Hot pepper red is one of the rarest colors out there. That was obvious because besides mine I’ve only seen one other 24 dressed in HPR.
It did surprise me that base models sold so well. I would have thought the XLT was the top dawg.

I purchased a Shadow Black Tremor in NY in 2023. Mostly because I go off road part time on sandy salty soil at least 8 months out off the year. Even with the new hybrid offered now I would still purchase a Eco if I was in the market for a new Maverick. Not too concerned about the gas mileage. Seems like Tremor and Black is a rare combination.

Interesting how rare Red was in NY, whether Rapid, Hot Pepper, or Ruby.
here in my town of Green Valley AZ, we have at least 5 Hot Pepper Red Mavericks... 2 XLTs, my Lariat, a Tremor, and an FX4.. There may be more, but that's what I've seen. Conversely, I've yet to see a Black or Silver Maverick.

From reading hybrid posts &
From reading what to buy posts
*this or that manufacturer vehicle

Seems some people are dead set on looking at the Hybrid thinking the mileage is the conclusion for them. But after reading all the posts on here regarding driving 'style' & kinks in the vehicle
, if the only choice was a Maverick hybrid vs. a different Vehicle Manufacturer I probably wouldn't buy a Ford
*if they only offered the mav in hybrid.

The XL is the working man’s Mav,
The Lariat is the boss man’s Mav,
The XLT is the Alpha males Mav,

The Hybrid, well, that’s the Gamblers Mav.

When I was a kid the first ā€˜Lariat’ F-150 I ever rode in was a friend of my Dads. It had a set of Texas Long Horns on the hood like my neighbor next door that’s from Texas.
One ton rear end, biggest V-8 of the day.
He wore a Cowboy hat, smoked Marlboro’s and wore Cock Roach kicker boots, if ya know ya know,
If not use google.

Lots of them around when I lived in Tampa, Fla, My home town.

If your from Texas your a ā€˜Texan’
From New York your a ā€˜New Yorker’

If your from Tampa, wait for it, a dramatic pause,,,,,,
Your a ā€˜Tampon’

Looks to be pretty in line with Ford's build plans.
