I'm more worried about the 17 year old with there hands and attention glued to their phone. Yikes!
Also, this is a Maverick, with a lot of recalls, not a jet.
It's the 30, 40 and 50 year olds who are more glued to their phones *while driving*.
The younger ones are on them at all other times, but IME are better about distracted driving. I think they're been taught to be afraid of driving, at least here in the crazy car centric suburbs.

"Allows" being the operative word -it doesn't make it happen, it just allows it. Few will do it. They're not professionals with hundreds of hours of training. I think this thread demonstrates that well. (Hanging weights on the wheel? Really??. What would your airline say if you did that on your A350?)
There was a study a few years back where they tested a bunch of young drivers with ADHD, and found that cars with manual transmissions were meaningfully safer that cars with automatics.
I traded in my '24 Versa manual, a car I really enjoyed, for my '25 Maverick. Manual transmissions don't play well with my new artificial knees.

I've had fun stoking the flames from control freaks and know it all's on MTC!
I post a single quick hands free photo on the open multilane freeway and you Bozos go berserk! LMAO! 🤣 I suspect death threats next,... or the end is soon! The sky is falling!! Get a life you control freaks and myob.

It appears that Ford doesn't have the steering wheel sensitivity set very well and even with my hand on the wheel it still isn't enough to prevent the never ending keep hand on wheel warnings. That $10 ankle weight gives me peace so that I can concentrate on the road.

"The younger ones are on them at all other times"?
"Better with distracted driving"?
LOL How did you come up with that?

Dang atleast people pre-cel-phone era, & pre-car-assist developed thinking and paying attention for themselves.

Reviving this old thread, I was curious about this : if you ignore all warnings (ex: medical condition) do you remember if the truck activated the 4-way flashers as it came to a stop?

Edit : if there was a medical issue when you don't have clear sailing in front of you, the ACC should prevent the truck from ploughing into traffic
I don't recall the four ways coming on. I don't think they did! I need to try it again.

It will start throwing alerts that you don't have your hands on the wheel tho

Edited as my suggestion was already made by someone else....in my case, I would use the "backwoods" hands free option when I was traveling back and forth from Central NY to Albany for Union business, but to be fair, I would remain alert and put my hand back on the wheel when I was, say, passing a tractor-trailer but most times, I would have my hands on my lap....now that I retired, I don't do that trip anymore and I never do it with the G/F in the car as she hates it. One side effect of ACC is that when I am in my 2006 Mustang GT, I occasionally "forget" that this beast does not have ACC and I have to slow the car manually by actually pressing the brake pedal.....the horror!!!!

I ignored the warnings about keeping my hands on the wheel, is what I meant by 'all warnings'

With respect to 2025 Lariat trim. Unless your foot is resting on the gas pedal while you are incapacitated which puts it in OVERIDE and defeats the ACC.

No, the 4-way flashers don't come on. Unless you have a collision of substantially severe impact? I have not personally tested that one, lol. It's not like the proposed Volkswagen system that you see ads for.

If the truck comes to a complete ACC stop for about five seconds, RES must be pressed or the accelerator pedal depressed activating OVERIDE to move.

I will say that I have a very light touch on the steering wheel and I got repeated reminders to hold the wheel. I AM holding the wheel. So, now I have an ankle weight around my steering wheel and the warnings are gone. I can drive in peace without the distraction of a warning every few seconds. I did have fun with some concerned, hysterical, controlling or opinionated members and posted a photo of "hands free" driving to see their reactions. It's amazing how ppl try to control others, LMAO! Like anybody here could actually do that. I think back on all those women sipping Starbucks while talking on the phone and doing their makeup weaving down the highway. 🤣 They need to trade in their SUV'S for a Maverick Lariat! 🤣

I understand what you're explaining, but what I'm wondering about isn't an ACC stop for traffic - it's a " lane centering and ACC is on, but driver isn't responding so the truck does a controlled stop on its own" scenario
The truck just stays centered in the lane and comes to a stop. Easy as pie.

I know this ... My question is, when it comes to a stop does it also activate the 4-way flashers
No flashing lights except your brake lights come on.

No the truck does not detect a deceased operator and pull to the side of the road and stop, then turn on the hazard lights, nor does it call for assistance and notify your next of kin.

Instead it will keep driving a long as they're is a 3lb resistance against the steering wheel, there are lines painted on the road on each side of the truck and no car stops in front. It will do this until the fuel tank empties and electric drive discharges.

If the lane keeping fails and the driver does not correct the Maverick will become a 3,500lb unguided projectile unless the lane keeping assist can re-aquire centering or a car brakes in front of the truck.
