If I can ever get my title and registration (not my dealers fault) I'm going to see what they offer me.
That’s been the issue. Carvana has nothing coming up in their system. Still waiting for my registration. Just hoping there’s a market for my lariat when my Explorer ST is built.

Oddly same situation here. Since my registration isn’t live my maverick doesn’t show up.

I remember seeing something else about this. Someone got an offer below MSRP from one company, wouldn't even get an offer from the other (can't remember which is which). Claimed there wasn't enough market data for them to make an offer.
I was in that thread. The no data comment may have been mine. That’s what the Carvana rep said.

Just got an offer for my EB XL with full size tire and trailer hitch with 1,100 miles from Vroom for $26,500.00. I may have to say bye bye to my new Maverick. My local dealer has an XL for sale for 32K.

Seller beware with Vroom. YMMV, of course, but very recently that company managed to lose a title to a vehicle I was selling to them TWICE. And then went no contact for literal weeks. Worst customer service and seeking experience I believe I've ever experienced.

I feel the profit on flipping the maverick will be small because it is not that expensive in the first place and sales taxes, registration and fee are for many states a good 10% Also consider that you are liable for the profit from that sale. (State an federal)...so you cut ~1\3 any initial profit.

It is late, so pardon the following statement.
Can anyone think of a way to sell\ transfer the liability of the vehicle before registering it and avoiding sale taxes and all?
I assume the dealer is the one that will push back if you show up at the signing with a stranger and say please register the vehicle to my friend instead. I expect the dealer to seek any opportunity to change that retail order in a stock vehicle and sell it directly. It may still be worthwhile to discuss frankly with him\her and share the bounty.

Are you forced to have the dealer registering the vehicle at the dmv? Can you buy the vehicle with a third party and private agreement and then remove yourself from the title? This is done when you payoff a car loan to the bank all the time.

Again for the maverick this is not worth the headache

Why would you be paying tax on a car you sold? You already paid the tax when you bought it?
I was worried about getting taxed on the 11k I made on my Q50 sale to Carvana. But I didn’t pay any tax, and don’t expect to. That 11k has been socked away for a healthy down payment on the ST I ordered. It’s still possible to make money flipping your maverick, as long as you didn’t pay over MSRP. The fact is, a lot of buyers aren’t giving quotes right now because most aren’t registered for long enough to show as being active.

if you live in a sale taxes state you have to pay sales tax on it...and it would also count as income so you would pay income tax on it as well. (this i believe is all done at tax time.)

in lucky state there is a grace period between a private sale of the car and the purchase of a new one. so you do not pay sales tax on both transactions.
The other statement you made is correct for my understanding. if you buy out a lease and then sell to carvana for profit, it is a profit. got to pay uncle sam and your state. like any other appreciating asset.
