Maybe this has come up before and I haven't seen it. Are there any GPops out there that find the carseat brackets simply ridiculous. I find that once you cinch a carseat down using the bracket behind the rear seat back, it is virtually impossible to unhook it because you cannot release the seat back. Any reasonable advice would be welcomed. Otherwise I have found that i love my 2025 hybrid and it will do anything I could think to ask of it. Oh and averaging 40 mpg is pretty great too!

I'll offer a suggestion because you and I are probably the only MTC members old enough to have grandchildren. It seems most Maverick owners are young punks with blacked-out taillights for their trucks and lowered suspensions.

I assume you mean the tether anchor near the headrests, not the LATCH lower anchors which are accessible without moving the seatback. Does your carseat not have a button that allows you to loosen the tether strap enough to tilt the truck's seatback a few inches forward? What manufacturer/model carseat have you?

My Maverick owner's manual says: "Contact the manufacturer of your child restraint for information about ordering a tether strap, or to obtain a longer tether strap if the tether strap on your child restraint does not reach the appropriate top tether anchor in your vehicle."

Grandpa here, as well. Grandchildren past the age of needing a car seat, but not hoping for any great grand children too soon.
Back to your issue. Sounds like a longer tether would solve your concern. You could leave it draped over the back support cushion making it easy to attach and then cinch it tight.

I have one kid left on a booster seat. Major pain in the ass getting the black clips on the rings in the rear seats. The push-fit connectors on the car seats are a breeze, but once they out grow it, beware!

Are you being facetious, or do you just not spend much time on the forum?

Yes, that is the anchor I am referring to. Both carseats that we have for our carpet crawlers have a button to loosen the tether strap, but it is hidden behind the seatback so that when you tighten the tether to it proper tension you can hardly slide a pencil between the rear bulkhead and the seat back let alone a finger or two. That being said, thanks for the reply and the feedback.
I appreciate you

Can I be an “old” punk that has grandchildren and NO blackout packages? All that “cool looking” stuff is what kept me from getting the lariat. Appearance stuff I had no interest in. But, to each their own.
Another lifestyle choice that I can respect👍🏻

Good suggestion as well. The problem is that the release is too close the hook so unhooking is the issue. I can hook it on OK. Just cannot release the tension on the tether to move the seat back to unhook it. We frequently need to move the seats from my Maverick to my wifes Kia. Thank you for the suggestion though.

After the first install, tether strap cinched down almost impossible to remove, the release button is at the buckle end. To remove, I finally decided to unlatch to lower clips and lift the car seat up, this gave just enough space to release the Maverick seatback and squeeze my hand in to release the tether.
