There are 8,000 lb luxury travel trailers with zero MPG loss to your truck and zero range loss to your Electric Vehicle.

In fact, these trailers make any gas or diesel truck into a hybrid vehicle.

The trailers are SELF PROPELLED with electrified rear axle and 76 kWh drive battery good for about 300 miles.

They boost and do regen on hills.

Acceleration and braking of your tow vehicle is unaffected while you have 8,000 lbs behind you.

The trailer has the same Cd as a Tesla sedan.

The custom hitch measures push and pull.

If more than 20 lbs of pull the wheels self propel.

If more than 20 lbs of push, the wheels regen. 80 kW regen.

Starts $150k
Fully optioned $250k

there are several companies experimenting with levels of self propulsion trailers. Even a 50% boost is a big deal when it comes to capability of tow vehicle, and wear and tear on it.

Even if you pull with gas or diesel you can recharge your trailer 20% to 80% in 36 minutes at any EV station.

Gas stations are starting to put EV cords on islands. So you can pull through. No need to back in or detatch your trailer.

One guy towed Texas to the Carolinas with a Rivian and never had to unhook the trailer.

Some areas cords are set up (ex Truck Stops) where you can recharge the truck and trailer at the same with 2 cords.

The $20K XL crowd is going to lose its' mind,,,,,,,,

Funny thing is, with this technology you could pull the 8,000 lb trailer with a Maverick. Though not recommended.

The 8,000 lb trailer is going to behave like a 8,000 lb trailer if there is a malfunction or if your battery pack runs out.

I've got $85k invested into these two vehicles that I bought new , and that amount includes the carport they both sleep in ....
I don't need a $250k " electric" camper , and then a large vehicle to pull it .......just sayin'.....

Interesting idea but even if I had the money to 'burn' it's not for me either. In 2019 I bought a RAM Promaster van which I insulated, paneled, carpeted and installed a simple 12V RV battery system. Used it for hauling mostly and it was also my daily driver. When I wanted to go traveling/camping I'd put in my removable camping gear and head out. It worked great for my purposes but in the spring of 2020 COVID hit and camping areas of all types were overrun. One thing the promotional images above don't show is the packed highways, crowded campgrounds, and expensive campground fees.

If I still lived out west where there is ample public land I might have kept the van longer but here in the east the 'boondocking' situation is bleak. Also, due to being inundated and the privilege abused, most Walmart's, Cracker Barrels, Cabela's etc have also banned overnight RV parking. After camping in various ways most of my life (tents, pop-up campers, travel trailer, etc) I traded the van in this spring for the Maverick and haven't looked back. I still have a tent and some nice camping gear but I don't see myself using it much (if at all) anymore.
