Yup, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.
There’s a sucker born every minute.
Starts $150k
Fully optioned $250k
If ya had that kind of green you’d be driving an F-250, 350
Not a mini truck.
Can you say, ‘ Click Bait ?”
It's for rich. No doubt.
It's for range extending your EV cybertruck, lightning, or rivian.

People didn't like recharging every 100 miles. Go figure.

They expect to sell 50 a year of the high trim level.

Maybe 150 a year of the low trim.

No way I want one and this feature isn't overly useful, but it's interesting that you can stand outside (possibly even sit inside) and drive it around with a remote.

It would be registered with a plate on it, right? Wonder if there are areas where you could drive down to the local Gas-n-Sip for a 6-pack. 🍻 Might also come in handy if your Maverick is in the shop due to a fender bender for a month or two. Probably a few blind spots though.

You could also drive it to the local bar, get wasted, then head out to crash in it right there in the parking lot. (y)

Something tells me the "I'm willing to pay a ridiculous price with no economic benefit to virtue signal that I'm saving the planet" folks aren't in to camping.

What's telling you that, don't listen.

there was probably a couple dozen of them at Burning Man. Now for sale at $75-100k with some dust on them. You can always pick up ostentatious bling stuff almost brand new for pennies on the dollar after Burning Man in the Bay Area. Trust funders have little concept of material value; or they are generous and not trying to maximize their return on sales of used stuff.

Yep, just another thing for the wealthy to have for attention. The ole "look at me" crowd, sorta like the cybertruck crowd but even more expensive imo. Bunch of horse shit.

there are several companies experimenting with levels of self propulsion trailers. Even a 50% boost is a big deal when it comes to capability of tow vehicle, and wear and tear on it.
It would have to be cost-effective to make sense. I'm sure it's at least partly why most OTR companies still don't use nose cones, skirts, or tailfins on dry vans. The added cost of the equipment plus maintaining and repairing it probably outweighed any fuel savings.

Useless if you have an EV.
I think the point is, if someone had $150-250k to spend on this trailer, that could buy a really nice conventional trailer, an engine-driven truck to pull it, and a lot of fuel for the truck before you came close to the cost of this trailer alone.

The crazy cost of RVs and campervans and stuff in the last 4 years was puzzling. I get it that some officey people could "work from home" and found out a way to work from RV. I read posts on the Transit forum from several of them. I have a friend who spent over $200k on a Revel campervan; but he can easily afford it, and was able to deduct it from his taxes cuz he used it for "work" (film industry).

But here's the deal: if you're going to spend a quarter million on a TRAILER, wouldn't you just get an RV or campervan instead? Trailers are unwieldy to travel with, and are kind of the poor man's RV. Or, just rent one when you need it instead of buying and storing. Us poor people have to buy and store, and cross our fingers that we can sell it when we don't need/want it anymore.

I think the point is like going to the moon.

Do it because you can.

TFL proved it.

This 8,000 lb camper = zero hit to MPG.

That’s pretty good, but for what it cost it ought to drive itself. Guess the bigger issue is how is one to charge it on vacation out in the great outdoors and traveling? Based on that question to Google AI one is pretty much SOL

It has 1,800 watts of rooftop solar.

It's primary customer is the EV truck/SUV owner, whom is already familiar with charging locations and procedures.

Of course at any camp site with power, you are Golden. It will fully recharge overnight.

Its main advantage is still getting 300 miles of range out of your 300 mile EV.

Lower cost / lower trim models will be coming out.

By the lights of Poseidon, those 'trailers' in the OP are godawful. Nothing like trampling nature in the name of enjoying it? Somehow manage to combine the soullessness of modern urban architecture with the poor taste of, well, lots of things.

"That's a hard 'no.'"
