The retired geriatrics around here who have spent hours trying to figure out how to lock out center console buttons will disagree - but it’s almost as if dogs belong in carriers when inside a vehicle.

I have a short leash that connects his harness into the seat belt lock and I have only left my vehicle on for a few mins to pee on a road trip. This could have been done in a few mins but that would mean this was the tazmanian devil and you should have known better. Or this could have been done after a long time of your dog being left alone in a car and you should have known better. Sorry this happened but its fortunate the dog is safe and you learned.

What you need is a travel crate for dogs. About $100. I use them all the time. The bed is an accident looking for a place to happen.
