My right front TPMS sensor stopped working. I got it replaced under my extended warranty for $100. Just wanted to share because it is such a cute and quirky little issue! The backup camera recall actually loaded this time too.

Retail is probably $125+ part & $200 labor….$325+ plus tax total.

If another one fails - use a tire gauge until the other 2 fail & use the $100 deductible on the $1200+ “repair”

That's not how deductibles work. $100 deductible means you pay the repair if it's less than $100, and if it's more than $100 then that's all you pay.

It doesn't mean that every repair is automatically $100 minimum

I see the OEM TPMS-17 433 MHz sensor listed online for $56 Canadian, that's about $40 USD. Mount and balance a single tire is typically $15 - $25 and it doesn't even need to be dismounted, you only have to break the outside bead to change the sensor. AND if you have factory extended warranty, they're going to claim the sensor and get it free.

I'm not dissing you, I'm just appalled that the dealer is ripping you off by charging you $100 for a job that's costing them $15-$25 and that you could've got done at a tire shop for maybe $65

Please stop dissing the OP. There is no shop that would have installed a Genuine Ford Part tpms out the door for less than $100! The Ford warranty on the new tpms is worth $100,

I don't think it's the batteries I think it's the screwy computer.
The top photo 18,410 isn't the first time it happened. It's the first time I had my phone in the car the first time it happened was actually one of the front tires.
The next time was 18,622.
Then it happened four times while we were on 4th of July holiday.
Everything always return to normal. It takes about 10 to 20 miles before the tire warning light goes out and the pressure numbers came back
I have never had a sensor changed.

I maintain it is a problem with the
BCM Not processing the signal properly.
Otherwise how do you account for it happening to different tires, on the same trip and yet months after the trip all tires are reporting normally?

Hmmm - they are supposed to go to sleep when not turning after a bit.

I have a bike hub sensor for speed that is supposed to sleep after 1-2 min no spinning.
It goes longer than that - battery dies sooner than the other one on crank for cadence.

I wonder if those TPMS reader tools can see signal from these? Need to find the supposed sleep time.

Thinking of all the ways a cheap piece of simple electronics can be made cheaper to actually fail.
Like bad solder joints in it, and 1 good pot hole creates a break.

I wouldn't say various times of the year if you take a look at the first two photos they were only about 200 miles apart. Probably two weeks apart in May. Then a few more times till the 4th of July trip.
Nope, no potholes. Smooth roads all the way. If you take a look at the bottom photo all numbers come right back.
When it first happened by the time I got home everything was fine. I checked all the pressures everything was good. Instead of panicking and calling a dealer having them replace stuff without knowing what the problem really is.
I decided to wait and see what's going to happen.
Between the driver side front 1 time and the passenger rear 3 times, over the 4th of July holiday. No temperature variance. My wife and I started to joke about it. I didn't bother taking pictures. Knowing everything would be fine in 10 to 20 miles.
TPS sensor should be good for 10 years or more.
