I paid just over $4 each on a case of 12 B2's. $14? That's crazy money for an oil filter. O' Weirdly gets about $12 for some of their filters... not my $12.

Since I couldn't find my case of Baldwins (after my grandson used my shop and 'organized' some of my inventory I bought a filter at my local Federated ( soon to be a Parts Pro store) for $4.85.
I hear ya, Us Canadians pay way too much for auto parts, hmm, tariffs, nah, we always have, even if they’re made here!

My ‘25 Maverick will be “old” soon enough. The ‘28 next generation guys will definitely get on my nerves 😬
Actually, I figure '28 to be the over/under for when something is shiny enough to distract me into giving up my wife's'25, even with my 10/100 ESP . . .

Ah...Baldwin .....the Elvis of filters !

You could tell all the factory workers hated the " tours" ... Theyre making minimum wage ....in a factory ....and the company was throwing us a " Party" ....
were they all singing. "a hunk of, hunk of, smelly oil" ?

🤔

After retirement "tomorrow" is the best day to get chore done. :cwl:
Hey! don't be in such a rush; you'll make the rest of us look bad!

Well I have a correction to make...

I paid $4.35 ( now $4.85) for the Federated brand B2 filters when they were made by Baldwin.

Since going to overseas production ( first China now Vietnam) the Federated prices have gone up.

The genuine Baldwin branded B2 filters I bought on Amazon last December were $68/case of 12. Now they are $78. Still made in Nebraska afaik.

Still looking for that case of B2 filters. I DID find the fancy $58 (?) oil drain plug I bought a few months ago. It was stuffed into the case of Techtron gas treatment I have in stock.

Retire, they said. You will all this free time to spend on your hobbies, they said. Now I'm trying to figure how I got anything done before retiring as I am just as busy. :cwl:
I love when I read these retirement post. I'm retiring in 126 days and my biggest fear is having too much time on my hands. I hope to feel the same way!

What I have found is less stress to get things done since I have everyday to get them done. If I need to mow and it's raining no problem I can do it tomorrow instead of in a week when I would be homw again.
Definitely less stress. The next day option is wonderful. 😁 Just have to be sparing in execution.

Went out this morning and sprayed roundup in the driveway then chipped up a stack of limbs at the edge of the woods left by the previous owner. Already chipped all of mine pile last Sunday. My girlfriend asked why I was doing that since it's in the woods. I said to make room for this years pruning and leaves. Plus it makes free mulch.
Last time I was in North Carolina, I was visiting a small horse property. The resident 10-year old kidling came over with a 5 gallon bucket and a stick from an area on the edge of the property. I asked what she had. She said she found a snake in the old chicken coop. When I peered inside the bucket, I found she had a juvenile copperhead. I casually said let's put a lid (with a brick for extra weight) on that and wait for her dad to come home. :surprised:

Is your skid plate/cover the same as my MY2025? Mine came off easy - maybe better screws & fasteners…?

Mine is steel.... FX4 pkg.

I sure got a bunch of dirt and road debris out from it this oil change.

I sure wouldn't want to remove that while laying on my back! I was told most joints charge $40 to R&R that plate during an oil change... @ $100+ per hour labor rate I can believe it.

One good thing it keeps a lot of salt and road debris off and out of the engine bay.

@Jalopy Technology

We had some brief discussion about Baldwin oil filters in this thread, and I thought I'd follow up with some recent information.

I started looking for a source for the Baldwin B7491 oil filter, which is the Baldwin model that cross-references to the Motorcraft FL-910s. Amazon was one option, but they were a bit expensive at $83/case shipped and wasn't sure if I would be buying from an authorized distributor. I looked locally and couldn't find them for less than $14 each(!!). So, I broadened my search and started looking for Hastings LF655 filters, which are the same filter with a different paint job. The Hastings brand is now retired, but I thought some distributors might still have them listed.

It turns out RockAuto has the Baldwin B7491 listed as Hastings LF655 for $4.72 each. On Friday (9/12) I ordered a case of the filters for $56.64 before shipping along with a bunch of other parts, and I just received a case of pretty red Baldwin filters.

That's a heck of a deal if you ask me, especially if you can't buy them locally and already use RockAuto as a parts supplier.

They also have the Baldwin B2 for $4.96 each
