So I go to my 2022 XL EcoBoost last Monday morning to drive to work and I see a piece missing from the roof trim strips. No idea how that happened, but I didn't check the night before since it was pouring rain when I got home. I usually give my truck a visual check whenever I park and also before I get in to go anywhere. No automatic car washes in the past several months, just hand wash. No impact to the truck while driving, no accident on the road... No local vandals ( I have a camera positioned where I can see the truck and its motion activated.
Trying to ask the dealer if it's covered since I remember them replacing both roof strips within the first year and am getting vague responses .
Anyone had this happen to them?

I don't see the warranty works here but keep pushing on it!

The dealer shoul replace it.Had similar issue on 2020 Ford Escape while under warranty. Brought it into Dealer, who told me he never saw that happen before. They replaced it under warranty N/C.

The dealer would determine whether it is warrantable or not, but that part would only be covered under 3/36 warranty.
I suspect you are past that by now?

Those are not cheap pieces!

2nd picture sure looks like plastic trim tool marks, unless that is purely the way the light is reflecting like lines.

Because I'm not seeing glue marks - which I'm assuming 1 spot between the 2 ends must exist to help with hold down.

You should be able to find past paperwork for dealership work, that states if they messed in that area before. Fordpass online (if you don't use app) should show it.

I doubt insurance would be great route - 500 deductible for 750 job say, and tagged for future premium increase.

My platinum extended warranty excludes “plastic body panels” and “trim”.

Just secured my not inexpensive trim with some cheap gorilla tape based on the OP (thank you)

I was going to suggest using the search function to see if anyone else lost theirs - make them a prime suspect in the OP’s missing trim case…

While washing the truck I noticed that piece does seem kind of loosely attached to the roof. If you tap on it it’ll move some. It’s just not fastened on there very well.

The connecting tabs at both ends are broken. Looks like someone tried to pry it off and broke those off.

Do you think a high pressure Car Wash drying fan aimed just right could blow it off?

Or one of those dangly strips could have caught the trim? That would explain the mysterious scratches the guy next in line experienced?

Prevent stealing? Would not work.

I’m more concerned with the additional cornering G’s I’m pulling after my strut brace install.

I was going to use blue painters tape to match my “Painters Tape Blue” Lobo - but I think the G’s are stronger than that tape could withstand.
