Coincidence?
I run about 25-35 miles a week. I'm old, so that's about all I find comfortable to do. About 2-3 months after acquiring the Maverick and driving it almost exclusively, about 5k miles total, I started having an issue after a couple miles with my Left hamstring cramping up a bit. This subsequently became more problematic in a couple weeks, becoming very tight and spreading to my calf, and I would be limping around for a couple days afterward. I have never had this problem before in 50 years of running. I've been off the running juice for more than a month at a time since it caused limping, and a slow-pace "test run" produced the same results (meaning that it isn't an injury, it would have healed up a bit).
I'm wondering if the cheap Mav seats and change in seating position from my Transit(not Connect) have anything to do with it?

Anyone else have any aches and pains after switching to Maverick from something else?
I know exactly what you're talking about, I find my wife's 2016 Escape seats, much more comfortable.
I think it's because they're deeper & they seem to have more padding.

100%. I don't want to trade the car in unless it's the absolute last option. I can't tell you how much more supportive this site is. On facebook, you get people saying "you have a heavy fat bottom" - (kind of gross to think about someone else's rear but whatever...). The thing between the BS and Mav is the way the bolsters go. Honestly, I would love a Nissan Murano seat first. I love the Mav as a vehicle, but want to change the seat. I'm already in process of getting better speakers, so...

do the Cal King covers have bolster protection (like the flaps that go over them). I'm assuming that could help? do the washers help lower the seat in the front? is there a way to make the bolsters go over the base (like they do on the BS)

I put an angry face not at your comment, but at the fact you're in pain. I feel the same way. I'm not skinny. I don't have a 31" waist. But I'm not large (if that makes sense). I am a bigger guy, but with my Murano I had and the Honda Element, they were great seats. I have been limping at work, or bending over in pain, or sitting on the tables. I started bringing a cane with me. It's no good.

It's funny you say that, because as a guy getting closer to 45, I listen to music LOUD. Metal. Skynyrd. You name it.

I was looking at the Weathertech seat cushion. Not sure if it would help you. I don;t have any problem in the lumbar area but the low seat front causes me back pain on long trips. I'm not skinny either but I have lost 28 lbs in the last year another 28 to go to hit my target. I am thinking about adding spacers to the seat front but the Weathertech cushion is supposed to help with the front height so I am on the fence.

What? Sorry ears are shot from sitting next to a 200 watt stereo at 75% volume.

If/when you get around to doing the sound system, I recently installed the Kicker 200.4 amp and Hertz K170s in the front. It made a HUGE improvement. After this I also installed Kicker KSC 40s in the rear, but unfortunately they don't help much. I think the way the speakers are mounted (in plastic trim pieces vs to the metal chassis) and the direction they aim hinder them. As far as the seats in my 2023 XL go: they are fine for me (6' 190 lbs).

Radio sounds ok for me . seats are ok but better since added protective seat covers and additional yoga mat (1/2 in thick ) underneath for additional padding . short errand trip regular seats ok but on longer trips wife complained so added padding and ok now .

Because of cause and effect, I'm thinking pretty hard on the idea that it might be a seating change from the Transit(not Connect) to the Maverick that's contributing to my leg cramping when running. It started a couple months after I got the Mav and drove the Transit(not Connect) less, if at all.

To be easy on my early elderly frame, I've decided to drop about 10-15lbs and get back to my college race weight. Being a middle distance guy aka Miler, that's still not skin and bones like a real distance runner, but about 165lbs for my 5'10' chassis, still kind of high for the BMI of non-athletes (a marathoner would be like 135lbs). I'm pretty sure my recurring issues with plantar and achilles will fade away once I lighten the load. BUT, this current issue is concerning, since I've never encountered anything like it.

I'll have to go do some measuring to see the physical differences in height, depth, and position of the Transit(not Connect) and Maverick seats.

Another thing that seems counterintuitive; soft seats cause aches and pains. They lack support, and discipline. They feel great for short drives, but allow your body to slouch and bend wrong, so aren't very good for longer times in the chair. Maybe the Mav seats just aren't very ergonomic, for me and a few others.

Are the seats different in the XL, XLT, Lariat?

I have an XLT and LOVE the seats. Very comfortable for me.
I’m average height and build.

Bob,
Other than the covering. There is absolutely NO difference in the size or build of the seats between trim levels.
Per Ford 👇
Across Ford Maverick trim levels, the physical size of the seats remains consistent, but their materials, adjustments, and cushioning differ. This means the interior cabin dimensions like legroom and shoulder room are generally the same across all trims. The perception of comfort is influenced by the seat's features rather than its core dimensions.

Some have said, that there was more room with the lariat seats.
I think it's a placebo effect or something that was said in order to convince ones significant other to justify buying the lariat over an XLT.😁

lol I find it funny. I’m looking at the D or C series Hertz and kicker amp. What does the K series carry? Price?

my order of importance:
1) Seats
2) Stereo Speakers
3) Fixing the Wind Noise

My 25 XL seats are better than my 23 XL seats were. Spend a little time adjusting the bottom cushion, before adjusting the rest.
